I Need A Conservative Television News Network
The Reality Check ^ | 03/16/2006 | Edward L. Daley

Posted on 03/16/2006 8:27:25 AM PST by sr4402

Every morning I log onto the worldwide web, not because I'm a computer geek, but because I want to understand what's going on in the world. I've long since turned my back on the print media for accurate and timely news reporting, and it's getting to the point where I can't even bring myself to watch a televised news broadcasts anymore, simply because tv networks can't seem to report on much of anything these days without insulting my intelligence with some sort of politically correct blather.

...

I need a television news network that doesn't slip misleading statements like "after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks... Muslims were often targeted for violence" (1) into its war-related news coverage, for no apparent reason other than to insinuate that Americans are prone to the same sort of religious-based, reactionary violence that the citizens of many Middle Eastern countries regularly engage in.

"I need a conservative national newspaper."

I know, you said newspaper, not network, every conservative should subscribe to the Washington Times.

You must be listening to an NPR that I don't receive.

So do I.
I was really excited when Fox news first came out, but now, just too much Catholicism and playing to Democrats make me ill. I can't watch it anymore.
So, I just come here to FR.

Nazi Pinko Radio is so transparently . . .

Wouldn't "Nazi Pinko" be an oxymoron?

nah...they're alkl-purpose totalitarians. And besides, Nazis and Communists are just two branches of the same tree. Their views are very similar.

I need a television news network that's willing to hire some ugly people to report the news,

I was with him up until this point...

I just get all my news from FR now.

Me too. Used to be, I'd turn on the tube when a breaking news story was going on. Now, I log into FR. Much more informative and faster updates. Haven't watched a local or network newscast in years.

Such a thing does not exist. The closest I've found is NPR, which at least tries to have equally biased people

Are you freakin' serious?!

I've noticed the same thing Meek Mom has. Bill O'Reilly and Shawn Hannity (catholics), two of the most prominent on Fox come to mind...and probably others. Their Catholicism comes through quite obviously.

Notice, I didn't say their Christianity comes through, but, more specifically, their Catholicism. Meek Mom is right.

I don't bash anyone. I'm just nauseous of the over-the-top Catholic nonsense that goes on on Fox News.

Thank you and, Pat Robertson isn't crazy as the MSM would like people to think.

I watch him. He is far enough gone for me to hope that he retires soon.

I don't want "conservative" news. I want the friggin' news, not cheerleading. If the conservatives screw up, I want to hear about it.
The trouble with wanting "the news" is that the story selection criteria which make "the news" interesting and therefore make a news outlet profitable are inherently anticonservative:. The conservative thing to do is simply to discount the news. First reports are usually wrong. Instead of focusing on the latest news, focus on reliable (i.e., proven track record) commentary. And that will direct you to a conservative editorial page such as that of The Wall Street Journal. And also to a web site known as FreeRepublic.com. Better yet, read a book.

If you want to know what is going on, "the news" is a distraction.

Why Broadcast Journalism is
Unnecessary and Illegitimate

The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth have all but vanished in journalism. Ideology and agenda crowd and clutter. What remains is merely propaganda.

There is NOTHING on NPR that could possibly balance Daniel Schorr.

Yeah, any normal person is creeped out by Schorr. I remember when he got that way. He was sure the Nixon administration was out to get him. Snubbed him for a WhiteHouse party or something. Anyway, the man displayed certifiable paranoia and his only natural home after that was thus the friendly havens of NPR.

All that proves is groupthink prejudice.
Prejudice is what you have when you think that you can now, or ever could, get "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" for free over the radio or buy it for a buck or so at the newsstand.
