New UK Law: Restaurants Must Permit Gays to Publicly Exhibit Affection

Bed and Breakfasts Must Admit Homosexual Couples

LONDON – A new UK law prohibits restaurants from preventing homosexuals from public displays of affection under pain of prosecution. The same law mandates that bed and breakfasts and hotels give rooms to same-sex couples or face legal backlash.

The Department of Trade and Industry announced the new rules Monday, which also forces retail shops to grant wedding registry lists to same-sex couples. The law expands previous provisions against discrimination in the workplace to include guaranteed access to “goods, facilities and services” for homosexuals. The new rules place homosexual disposition on an equal footing with race and gender.

Trade Secretary Alan Johnson told the Times, “I want to make sure that no one gets refused a room at a hotel or a table in a restaurant because of their sexuality.”

You want to make skin color analogous to personal choice to have anal intercourse with someone of the same sex in a bed I own, no less?

Hmmm. Big difference, under my roof.

So is it the same sex thing that grosses you out or the sex act itself? What is a heterosexual couple engaged in the same type of activity?

How do you know what the gay couple will be doing in the room?

It's the fact of it being a psychosexual disorder pretending to be healthy that I won't participate in.  And I won't abet someone's moral depravity in my own home.

What is a heterosexual couple engaged in the same type of activity?

An extremely stupid couple!

How do you know what the gay couple will be doing in the room?

It's none of my business what someone does in the privacy of their own bedroom.  And as long as they keep it there I am OK with that.  If they embrace death, let them.  But when they try to force me to accept their depravity, I will fight back, till the end.

If I ran a B&B (spare room(s) to let) in MY HOME in presence of my kids: two people, unmarried or same sex = two rooms. My moral beliefs. No business of the govt. Or govt puts me out of business.

But down the street there is a Holiday Inn Express.

Who wants to spend a couple thousand bucks to go watch queers making out while you're trying to eat?"

Yeah. British food was hard to eat before this law!

Beans and bangers with toast. With a spotted dick pudding for dessert. mmm.

Not by the examples you are bringing forth...and being "gay" is more a behavior and a choice.

As others have said, I don't pays my funds to be visually assaulted by their nauseating practices.

As the Owner of an establishment I most certainly can and have an obligation to limit behaviors that would affect my guests.

the English equivalent of Texas

Where would that be (if you don't mind my asking)? West Sussex?

The reason I ask is that we plan to visit the UK next year when my son is studying in Edinburgh.

I'd love to give our tourist $$$ to innkeepers and landlords and retailers in "the English equivalent of Texas."

If you are a business that serves the public - and you use public services like streets, sidewalks, water, police etc... you have to play by certain rules.

You can't discriminate.

You CAN discriminate --at least until now-- against certain behavior.

For example, a restaurant could rightfully eject a patron who smoked; or who insisted on spitting on the floor; or even who persisted in merely speaking so loudly he was disturbing other patrons.

Until recently, homosexual behavior was considered...a behavior. Now it's no longer a behavior, but a "protected minority" status.

Someone spitting in a restaurant is different than 2 people walking into a motel.

What if two men walked into a motel and asked for a room with double beds?

I agree with that, some actions are inappropriate, but that goes for straight people too. Would you mind a male / female couple holding hands? How about two females?

You mean I have to save it for threads referring to Monica's testimony about her familiarity with the Commander in Briefs? Oh. OK. Call me culturally corrected.

But if you ever get over the pond and want something sweet to follow the steak and kidney pie......

Great. Now they're forcing Bead and Breakfast owners to turn their businesses into bath houses.

Seems they can no longer reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

homosexuals are no different than people who have sex with animals.

Thus under the UK law a sheep/human couple must be "accomodated".
