Thanks for your service and dedication. You rock.I had read somewhere that here in NC we are having a problem with increased motorcycle deaths of troops who have returned from Iraq-because they are looking for that rush of activity and find the down time dull and all.

Because I ride my horses in long distance events called endurance rides/racing. 50 miles and up, sometimes multiple days, up to 5 in a row, for 250 miles total.
I was in graduate school in the early 90s. It was a time when the full fury of political correctness was just beginning to take a stranglehold on U.S. colleges.
The administration of the graduate school implemented a plan to better identify their ethnic demographic mix. As a result, all students were required to wear color-coded badges identifying their ethnicity, which in turn would be tracked by the registrar.
Some of the categories of hyphenated Americans they used. . .
African-Americans (obvious).
Asian-Americans.
Latino-Americans.
Islamo-Americans.
Judeo-Americans (surprised they didn't require the Jews to wear a yellow Star of David on their coats).
Homo-Americans (no joke).
Lesbo-Americans.
Feminist-Americans (for the straight women among us).
Some enterprising, arrogant PC type chimed up that they needed a category for European Americans. The administration, hoping this would fall through the cracks unnoticed, had to come up with a category for the heretofore ubiquitous straight, white, American males that populated their campus. And hence. . . (drumroll). . .
Euro-American Scum was born.
Descriptive of all fascist oppressors of women, the oppressed peoples of color of the third world, and all hate-filled homophobic bigots.
We were issued special non-preferred parking permits for the "Death To George (H.W.) Bush" rallies they held on campus every Friday afternoon.
It's been a badge of honor ever since.

Some people think "Alarm Rider" is a Paul Revere type deal, wrong.
I was in the USAF and while posted to a headquarters squadron, I worked mostly the evening/night shift (CQ). When we had a problem, locally the person that went to investtigate the problem was known as the "alarm rider".
Thus, my friends would introduce me as the Alarm Rider, and so it goes.
Interesting--I'm an Appalachian-American myself.
Ah Ha! A gas passer. Or as they like to say, "I laid on my belly and passed gas".
