Some people think "Alarm Rider" is a Paul Revere type deal, wrong.
I was in the USAF and while posted to a headquarters squadron, I worked mostly the evening/night shift (CQ). When we had a problem, locally the person that went to investtigate the problem was known as the "alarm rider".
Thus, my friends would introduce me as the Alarm Rider, and so it goes.
