Good evening.
So we allegedly have a cat and a dog dying from the flu. Are there reports of other species and does this mean the bug is changing enough to be passed from other species than birds to humans?
It needs to hold off a few more months, if you please.

Thanks...From a DOGGIEPING standpoint, I don't think I'm going to start pinging canine bird flu cases on other continents yet.
I think it's an epidemic-follower story, not an American dog fancier story, so far.

No ~ dog got it from a bird. Cat got it from a bird. You can get it from a bird.
It has a very high lethality rate.

Thanks for the ping. BTT.

Thanks for the ping, MA.
I pray that people are beginning to take this seriously.
Pigs, cats, dogs.........

Now this is really interesting. I don't remember dogs and cats getting influenza before. There is a significant difference between the two immune systems.
Have to do a little digging into it to see if this is common or not.

A lot of people had assumed canidaes were immune (or only mildly affected). I guess the real reason this hadn't been known to happen before is that dogs don't kill birds quite as often as cats.
