French film legend Brigitte Bardot sent a letter to President Bush on Wednesday urging him to prevent the execution of a prisoner on death row in Texas.
Bardot said she had been deeply touched by a letter from the prisoner, Farley C. Matchett, who was convicted for a 1991 killing committed during a three-day crime spree. His execution has not yet been scheduled.
"This man's story truly touched me," Bardot wrote, urging Bush to use his powers to order a new trial for Matchett.
The "And God Created Woman" star, who has concentrated on animal rights campaigns in recent years, said she would help pay Matchett's legal fees if he was given another trial.

Didn't she get into some trouble a few years back herself? Seems that she has a problem with immigrants to Europe.

The governor of Texas should send Miss Bardot a videotape of the execution.
I would!

Did his letter go something like, "You are the greatest actress ever and you still look soooo hot."

She only made one movie that anyone watched and she is a legend?
To: cripplecreek
Yep. Amazing that she wants to turn murderers loose on us Americans but doesn't want to be around them herself.

A no-account "actress" with no-account political opinions.
This is news?
To: LibWhacker
So let me get this straight. A French actress (of little note in the last 30 years) is "touched" by the story of some bum in a Texas prison, so the will of the American people should be subverted ...
Nah.

Would she be as deeply touched by a letter from the murder victim's family?

Someone should tell this moron that the POTUS has NO authority to grant relief like this to an inmate convicted of STATE crimes. This is basic information that she should have been aware of before even contacting Bush. Simply amazing.

I have no pity for a murderer. I want to see him die. That's the only way I will be deeply touched - to see justice done.

She was quite the looker in her day. Too bad she's so easily swayed by a con man and murderer.
