Fantasies About Jihad-Only now are Europeans realizing the jihad is upon them.
FrontPageMagazine.com ^ | March 15, 2006 | Robert Spencer

I recently spoke at the Pim Fortuyn Memorial Conference in The Hague, which focused on Europe’s growing immigration crisis and imminent Islamization; Bat Ye’or, Ibn Warraq, Daniel Pipes, Douglas Murray and others were also featured speakers. The first night we were in The Hague there was a reception for us at the American Embassy. The new Ambassador, Roland E. Arnall, hadn't arrived yet, but I had a pleasant conversation with our host, Deputy Chief of Mission Chat Blakeman.

Blakeman introduced me to an official of the Dutch Ministry of Integration, who spends her days in dialogue with Dutch imams and other Muslim leaders. We began a wide-ranging discussion about the nature of the jihad threat and the proper response to it. In the course of this I asked her how many Muslim leaders she encountered who were ready to lay aside attachment to the Sharia, accept the Dutch governmental and societal structure and the parameters of Dutch pluralism, and be willing to live in Dutch society as equals to, not superiors of, non-Muslims indefinitely. She told me that there were only very few, but insisted that we had to work with those few, and indeed had to place our faith and hope in them, for otherwise the future was impossibly bleak. I asked her if she had read the Qur’an. She told me no, she hadn’t, and wouldn’t, because she didn’t want to lose all hope -- and because whatever was in it, she still had to work to find some accord with the Muslim leaders, no matter what.

I urged her to ask the imams with whom she spoke questions that made their loyalties clear, insofar as they would answer them honestly. I urged her to ask them whether they would like to see Sharia implemented in the Netherlands at any time in the future, and whether they were working toward that end in any way, peaceful as well as violent. I asked her to ask them whether they would be content to live as equals with non-Muslims indefinitely in a Dutch pluralistic society, or whether they would ultimately hope to institute Islamic supremacy and the subjugation of non-Muslims.

She couldn’t ask them those questions, she told me. Such questions would immediately put their relationship on a confrontational plane, when cooperation was what they wanted, not confrontation. But, I sputtered, you’re not getting cooperation as it is. The confrontation is already upon us. What is to be gained by pretending that it isn’t happening?

I don’t envy this articulate and intelligent young lady her job. But her remarks reminded me of a message I received not long ago, after I had criticized former Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid’s bit of Wall Street Journal puffery about how Islam is really a religion of peace. A reader took me to task for “suggesting that Islam is irredeemable in some sense.” He asked: “if we assume this to be true, what is to be done. What would Mr. Spencer suggest that this or any American president do to deal with this reality. Wahid was thought to be a step in the right direction when he was president of the extremely large population of Indonesia, but if he is not much more than a ‘trumped-up counterfeit,’ where do we go from here.”

Where do we go from here? We go to reality. We stop deceiving ourselves and allowing ourselves to be deceived by others. If Wahid was being disingenuous about the teachings of Islam, then he doesn’t offer Westerners hope. He offers them a weak reed that will collapse when they need it the most. Why? Because Muslims who are attracted by the siren song of jihad will see through his pleasing platitudes and recognize how slim a case he really has with reference to the Islamic texts. Westerners can be fooled by him, and Muslims can’t. The young lady in the Dutch Ministry of Integration, despite her best efforts to ignore or deny this reality, kept coming up against it: she found that only a small minority of Muslim leaders in Holland were at all interested in working toward integration.

Eventually the Dutch Ministry of Integration and other administrative bodies in the Western world are going to have to come to grips with the implications of that fact, and with the implications of other facts about Islamic jihad that so far they have preferred to pretend did not exist. What would I suggest that the President do about this reality? I would suggest that he acknowledge it as a reality. That he address the nation and the world, and tell them that the United States is going to lead the resistance to jihad and Sharia supremacism in the name of equality of rights and dignity of all peoples. That any state that oppresses non-Muslims or denies them equality of rights in any way will receive no American aid whatsoever. That any state that allows the idea that Muslims must make war against non-Muslims until they either convert to Islam or submit to the Islamic social order will be no friend of the United States. That the idea that the U.S. Constitution should one day be replaced by Islamic Sharia, whether by violent or non-violent means, will be understood within the United States as seditious.

The Pim Fortuyn Memorial Conference was one small effort to bring Dutch officials, and ultimately the West at large, to confront the realities of our world that the world is doing all it can to deny. Bat Ye’or spoke about how European officials themselves had brought Eurabia into being by encouraging immigration while eschewing assimilation at the insistence of the Arab League. Only now are Europeans realizing that their culture, their soul, has been sold by their leaders for oil, and the jihad is upon them.

It is a reality so bleak that it is no wonder that most officials prefer fantasy. But they won’t be able to maintain their comfortable illusions much longer.

This is a sobering post. Nothing is gained by denial and kidding ourselves that if we give them what they want, Islam will morph into a bunch of Baptists at a cake sale who just want us to move the family car. (Substitute any other religion you like for Baptists.) You know who'll be blamed for not solving the problem before the mass turned critical...the US. We're the world's super power. Jihad happened on our watch. We should have smited them early and hard. Our reaction to 9/11 wasn't enough, and if anybody's left, they'll write books based on that.

Hindus who own a Quickie-Mart in a small MA near me have something (A Hindu goddess's picture), hung up for patrons to see...and bumper stickers on the family car indicating they're 'Proud Americans'.

I hate to break it to you...even those middle easterners who are muslim and run the 7-11's...tend to be very secular types(just think about the amount of porn, and in some areas beer and wine sold there).
7-11 owners are NOT our enemy...the ones I know work very long and hard. They came here to make it.

I try to treat all people as individuals...and not to lump them in with a group...

but looking at the big picture of what is going in here at home and especially in Europe is this catch phrase I borrowed from another freeper:

Radical Islam is an insane murder cult.
Moderate Islam is its Trojan Horse in the West.

If the artice says anything it is that the feminine mindset has been allowed to dominate Western political thinking. I say its about time that we put crazy granny in her place, and start doing what is right when it comes to the ROP. "Wait till your father comes home" should be a statement that is given a new lease on life.

I was referring to the law they're contemplating or maybe voted on (which country, it was in the article) of only allowing Muslims with useful skills into the country. I was thinking of France which has millions of unemployed and apparently unemployament Muslims and all their relatives.

Having a bad day today or somthing?

BTW, France has much higher proportion of Muslims than the UK.

Acutally every Muslim other than a tiny percentage are descendents of Jews, Christians, Hindus, Bhuddhists, Parsees, Jains, animists (did I leave anyone out?) who were forcibly impressed into Islam. Some only a few hundred years ago. They should all be given the opportunity to convert back to the religion of their forebears.

Of course, that is punishable by death in Islam. But who knows how many would take that choice if they were free to do so?

France has a Total population: 62.3 million

Muslim population: Five to six million (8-9.6%)

Higher than all the other western nations but that is because they are former citizens of Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.

They have no proper levers of power they can cause problems but a takeover or even a civil war is not something they are really capable of.

No I am not having a bad day but thanks for asking.

What about in a few years? You know the birth rates for Muslims and non-Muslims in France and most of the EU, right?

re :What about in a few years? You know the birth rates for Muslims and non-Muslims in France and most of the EU, right?

LOL they are going to outbreed us argument.

When the Blacks from the West Indies first came to this country, Britain, we were told we would be swamped as they were all young and had big families while we have small families.

The fact was we were not as they got older they wanted what white children wanted and it wasn't a big family.

All the Muslims I have met in there teens and 20s are more interested in XBoxes ( I think its a computer game), Fast cars and all the other materialistic trappings of the West.

Rather than lie down and be good little Muslims and out breed the Christians.

Breeding lots of children to work on your farms works in North Africa, the Middle East and Pakistan/India and South East Asia where the family unit is strong and you have the extended family to help with raising the children and to make sure you do your duty and become a baby producing factory.

But in the West as I said apart from claiming to be Islamic because it means they can sulk go on TV and riot and cry crocodile tears over there brothers in other countries who are persecuted.

But the other things like giving up the bling(heavy Gold Chains) and settling down they are not interested in. They woukd rather commit crime sell drugs and end up in jail.

Not all of them.

In France they have a tendency to jail Muslims and for longer than there white counterparts.

LOL While they may be getting some horizontal action, I doubt they will breed any children from it, unless a miracle happens.

As an aside the West has new large scale immigration from Central and Eastern Europe who are also young and predominately male, mainly Slavic.

While I am married I am looking forward to seeing the Slavic women come over to join there male counterparts, always liked looking at pretty women.

So I guess you don't read any articles about the actual, real figures of Muslim birth rates in European countries. And I guess the Muslims - some if not all born in the UK - who bombed your county last summer means nothing, and for sure nothing like that will every happen again.

You're one strange fellow.

re :So I guess you don't read any articles about the actual, real figures of Muslim birth rates in European countries.

I have never seen real figures only possible predicted figures, and they always end up coming from suspect sources.

re :And I guess the Muslims - some if not all born in the UK - who bombed your county last summer means nothing, and for sure nothing like that will every happen again.

Now I have a personal interest in this subject.

Yes they were Muslim youth who carried out that attack, and yes despite are best there is a possibility that another group will strike again.

But 1) We have geared up are intelligence gathering against this new threat.

2)We have started targeting, deporting or jailing those who preach hatred and foment unrest.

You say I am a strange fellow, because I don't see it as much as a threat as you.

It may have something to do with the fact that I spent most of my Military life fighting insurgencies.

By the way during the 70s, 80s and 90s we had a domestic terrorist problem we had to deal with.

They were the IRA a Irish Catholic Terririst organistaion.

I spent the 80s and 90s fighting them, and I have Irish Catholic roots, my Mum being Irish Catholic and my Dad Italian American Catholic.

So I know what its like being tarred with the same brush as a murdering terrorist bstard.

I was saying the same thing some years ago, and was called some kind of nut. Usually people would say something like, "Oh! Don't you realize all people really want the same things. You know, like raise a family, have a nice quite life, make money." My answer was then what it is now, Muslims want your lands, your goods, your minds, and they will kill you, if need be, to get it. That is the long and the short of it. More and more people are listening now and fewer and fewer are accusing me of being a nut. Reality is catching up to wishful thinking.
