Damned if I can understand why a nation would give up a fairly advanced, humane faith like Zoroastrianism for Mohammed's rantings.

Some mass beheadings in the streets, live burials, drawing and quartering, and other merciless, murderous mayhem advanced by the mohammetan barbarians is what is probably responsible for 99.999% of the conversions to the Death Cult.

"So the mullahs have apparently abandoned their distaste for Sunnis, especially of the Saudi type, in favor of creating paramilitary goon squads to harass the Persian majority in Iran."
Just after the revolution in 1979 after Khomeini returned from France, thousands upon thousands were arrested and executed. The Iranians, even his vigilantes, refused to shoot their kinsmen, kinswomen and pre-teen children, so Arafart's 2,000 Palestinians who cane to Iran with him to get money from Khomeini and plunder the artifacts and antiques from the homes of the arrested and executed wealthy, had to do the job. Finally they started threatening the young Iranian vigilantes with death if they did not pull the trigger. After a while the Iranians became inured and handled all the executions - but still rather reluctantly. That was when Khomeini set up the Pasdaran (Revolutonary Guards) as his personal guards and also the mercenary Basiji as enforcers. As I was discussing with a Persian friend, there used to be about half a dozen real (premeditated) murders in Iran every year, other than the occasional manslaughter incidents where someone got killed by accident in an altercation both in a village over crops or in a downtown knife fight. Pre-Khomeini Iranians were not naturally bloodthirsty. The Islamic regime has bred a new kind of Iranian. Rapes and murders began to take place after Afghans who had come to Iran to find work during the Shah's time no onger found work and discovered Khomeini did not much care if they killed, robbed and raped.

What you said is so sad, but true. I remember the commencement of the executions of not only the military folks but those that were loyal to the Shah. I still remember the pictures in Life magazine of Iranian citizens lined up and being executed by the Palestinians and other mercenaries that were brought in to overthrow the Shah of Iran.

Mullah Golpayegani who wrote the edict indicated: "The use of fireworks, sparklers and fire crackers which will lead to fun, conviviality and frolic is 'haraam'
OH NO! Not FUN! Well we can't have anything like that.

Mithrism was quite the thing between Zorastrianism and Islam. Many parts of Persia were essentially Jewish in belief.
They still do all this stuff in India.

Now would be a good time for the United States to offer these folks whatever help they want. Now would be the time to make the message clear: Kill your mad mullahs ASAP, or eventually die alongside them via little Israeli/USA presents from 50,000 ft.
Tick-tock, Iranians.

As far as the clerics are concerned, Iran's history begans with the forcible Arab genocide and extermination of Iran's Zoroastrian civilization and the country's subjugation to Islamic dictatorship. The people of Iran know better.

The Persians held a tremendous chunk of the Middle and Near East at the time the Moslems from Mecca showed up. They were quite popular for several centuries for having liberated tens of millions of people from Persian tyranny.
Strange, eh?! Today we'd hardly think of the Arabs, or Moslems, as anybody's liberator.

There is a considerable Zoroastrian minority in Iran. In India, they are known as the Parsees.

You know if they had just ignored this it probably would've been no big deal. It's not like the Iranians are going to go back to this pagan religion.

The regime has mobilized Lebanese, Syrian, Afghan, Algerian, Saudi, Iraqi and Palestinian Basijis... That, under the rubric of Islamic "brotherhood," the sort of "brother" who is a hateful, murderous thug. These people are the core of the enemy and it will be a pity if a single one of them leaves the country alive.
