Criminal Proceedings
The Guardian (UK) ^ | 14 March 2006 | John Laughland

Posted on 03/14/2006 3:33:02 AM PST by Doctor13

I was one of the last western journalists to meet Slobodan Milosevic. Having been called to The Hague as a potential witness, I spent an hour in his cell in January last year. Like most who met him, I found him polite and intelligent. "We will win," he told me. "Freedom is a universal value. They have no evidence against me."

If the international criminal tribunal for the former Yugoslavia were a proper court of law, the charges against him would have been dismissed long ago. Unfortunately, it is a highly politicised organ, created on the initiative of the very states which attacked Yugoslavia in 1999, and whose judges have disgraced themselves by bending the rules to facilitate the prosecution's task. In 2004, the judges imposed defence counsel on Milosevic, even though the ICTY's charter states that defendants have the right to defend themselves, and even though they knew he was too sick to stand trial. On February 24 2006, at the prosecution's insistence, they rejected Milosevic's request to be transferred to a heart clinic: he died a fortnight later.

Sorry I forgot he will already have Franjo Tuðman to keep him company as they happily chortle over the mess they made between them of Yugoslavia

The Hague want to be an International Criminal Court, I would guess the Statue out front would be of a blindfolded kangaroo, holding scales that tilt way over to the left.

I've always wondered if Milosovich could be compared to Pinochet. The world accuses Pinochet of crimes, but the accusations don't fit in my view.

The Croats are Christians.

While many of the most monstrous Croats claim(ed) to be Roman Catholic, their track record in the human rights area during the 90's Balkans wars, WWII and WWI is such as to rank them more as "extreme sociopath" rather than servants of God. Their treatment of non-Croat fellow man more closely resembles that of the islamic jihadist demoniac than that of the good samaritan...enough so that during WWII, their inhumae treatment of Serb prisoners by ustashi SS troops was enough to make their German SS counterparts puke.

Anything the Serbs did to the Croats was purely in the interest of self preservation AND richly deserved.

And you mlv123 are either a freaking muslim, croat or moron or some combination of all three.

Slobo was a thug that took his country backwards. He did not deserve to live. I hope Saddam hangs, and dies slowly.
