I never thought that the President lied about WMDs.

Many would have been better served if he'd put up a more rigorous defense of the presence of WMDs and of Iraqi
ties to a number of terrorist groups to include Al Qaeda.

Those most injured by the terrible media skills of the President's information team are the soldiers of the US military.
They NEED daily to know that their sacrifice is the necessary thing to be doing for a just cause.

If the Bush Administration is uninterested in broadcasting this information to the public, why should the mainstream media be interested? Either it's unsupportable as a matter of fact, or the Administration is becoming bizarrely detached from the need to support the war with factual information, particularly facts that would rebut the claims of the "Bush Lied" crowd. I can't explain it - maybe someone else can.

I thought that the Rathergate fiasco established "fake but accurate" as a standard. The corollary is "real but wrong" would also be acceptable to the MSM. It's an either-or thing. Just as "fake and wrong" would actually fall beneath the MSM standards -- you also can't have "real and accurate" -- it just won't do.

I agree that it would have been better to stand up for what was right. But, no matter what the WH said, the LSM would have spun it the way they wanted it. It was lose/lose all the way. Like arguing logic with an insane person . . . or a Democrat.
