THE HAGUE, Netherlands - A Dutch toxicologist confirmed Monday that he found traces of a non-prescribed drug in a blood sample taken from former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic earlier this year.
Donald Uges said he was asked to examine the sample after Milosevic's blood pressure failed to respond to medication given by doctors at the U.N. detention center...Uges said he found traces of rifampicin, a drug that could have reduced the effectiveness of his other medications...[snip]
...Tomanovic said Milosevic was "seriously concerned" he was being poisoned...He cited a Jan. 12 Dutch medical report which showed traces of medication used against leprosy and tuberculosis, but said Milosevic had never knowingly taken them.
Uges, whom the tribunal asked to confirm the findings in a test in February, said that he found the same antibiotic Milosevic's blood weeks later...[snip]
...Milosevic was the sixth war crimes suspect from the Balkans to die at The Hague. A week earlier, convicted former Croatian Serb leader Milan Babic, a star prosecution witness in the Milosevic trial, killed himself in the same prison.

Goering committed suicide in prison when a US guard, supposedly, slipped him a poison pill. I'm beginning to think the same thing happened.

Milosevic was found lifeless on his prison bed Saturday morning, just hours after writing an accusatory letter alleging that a "heavy drug" had been found in his bloodstream. Sounds like he had an idea he was being poisoned. I hope a pharmacist can weigh in on how the drug they found negates anti-hypertensives enough to cause a coronary.
I would think this would have to occur over some time. At any rate, the Russians are pretty famous for using poison if you recall Victor Yuschenko's experience.

Milosevic's lawyer said on Sunday his client had written to Russia asking for help a day before his death as he believed he had been given the wrong drugs -- including some for leprosy and tuberculosis -- in a bid to silence him. The Russian foreign ministry said on Monday it had received the letter and said Milosevic's brother Borislav, former Yugoslav ambassador to Moscow, had asked a group of Russian doctors to fly to the Hague to take part in the autopsy

There's a problem with your theory. See below:
..Tomanovic said Milosevic was "seriously concerned" he was being poisoned...

Your right of course, but it's their own fault....
They keep killing off their "defendants" at an alarming rate.

The tribunal on Sunday said a heart attack killed Milosevic, according to preliminary findings from Dutch pathologists who conducted a nearly eight-hour autopsy on the former Yugoslav leader.
A tribunal spokeswoman said it was too early to determine if poison could have caused the heart attack, saying a final autopsy report would be released in coming days.
Add to this the fact that five other Bosnian war crimes suspects have died at the Hague while in custody and it looks a lot like they've set up their own private version of Fort Marcy Park.
If we ever needed proof of why the International Criminal Court was and is an abominable idea and institution, THIS IS IT.

Maybe someone was tired of the trial dragging on for years.

Rifampin can lower the number of white blood cells in your blood temporarily, increasing the chance of getting an infection. It can also lower the number of platelets, which are necessary for proper blood clotting. These problems may result in a greater chance of getting certain infections, slow healing, and bleeding of the gums. Be careful when using a regular toothbrush, dental floss, or a toothpick. Dental work should be delayed until your blood counts have returned to normal. Check with your medical doctor or dentist if you have any questions about proper oral hygiene (mouth care) during treatment.

Jesus. Those are the *same* Europeans "caring" for all of those dead war prisoners who have been vicious in condemning the U.S. treatment of prisoners at Gitmo (where no one has ever died).
Will the hypocrisy ever cease?!
Moreover, after criticizing U.S. prisoner treatment (making Europeans fair game for the same), why haven't we heard about these half-dozen war prisoner deaths at The Hague before now?
