Google blocks anti-communist web sites in the USA.
The Peoples Cube - web site (via LGF blog) ^ | March 10, 2006 | Red Square

Google has now begun censoring web results in the USA. Previously they have admitted censoring sites in China. Like the Chinese censorship the sites being cut from the search results are anti-communist.

The following letter is from the web site "The Peoples Cube Worldwide" which is a parody-of-Marxism site.

Google Purges The People's Cube Worldwide

Open letter #2 to Google from the People's Cube (posted on Google.com Help Center at 8:30pm on March 10, 2006

Dear comrades at Google:

At some point, quite recently, our popular site "The People's Cube" (ThePeoplesCube.com) was purged from Google search results. MSN , Yahoo and other search engines still have it - but Google has erased/blocked any link to the site in its database. One can still find links to us from other sites - but not even one from Google to ThePeoplesCube.com. We tried American, French, German, British, Australian, and Russian versions of Google - they used to give us traffic only a few days ago - but all we got was the same line in various languages: Sorry, no information is available for the URL thepeoplescube.com. And if we clicked on Find web pages from the site thepeoplescube.com we got Your search - site:thepeoplescube.com - did not match any documents.

The first time we saw this line it was written in Chinese - (Chinese characters not supported in browser removed by poster for clarity - JB)

We used to look up The People's Cube for fun in the communist-censored Google China only weeks ago - and reported it on our site in a story called Google's Great Leap Forward. Of course our site was blocked by the Chinese government, with Google's consent, along with legions of other Western sites - but we couldn't imagine that only a few weeks later we would get the same results in English. The last time we checked we still lived in the United States - not China - but hey, whoever controls the information is the boss.

If it were a glitch in an algorithm it might throw our rankings back to the end of the line - but this is a total removal. We suspect it is also a deliberate removal - much in the spirit of 1984-style historical revisionism - removal of a "people's enemy" from life and history. Sergei Brin's Russian parents might tell him stories of people in Stalinist Russia disappearing, along with all their pictures and records. "Out of sight, out of mind" - translated into Russian and then back into English, the idiom turns into "invisible lunatics." That also describes The People's Cube's search results in Google.

We can only think of three reasons for this:

Google is retaliating against sites that ridiculed its Google China project.
Google has begun to implement its Google China policies in the rest of the free world.
A left-leaning Google employee who's got access to the database was suffering a nervous breakdown over the mockery of Marxism on our site, and so he or she dastardly removed/blocked The People's Cube, hoping to "improve" the public discourse by silencing the competition.

You tell me which one it is.

The People's Cube is a business corporation selling products on the Internet. A drop in traffic, caused by a malicious tempering with search results, has affected sales and that gives us grounds for you-know-what.

We'll start by posting this letter on our site and wait for your reply. We'll gladly drop the matter and similarly drop this post into the "memory hole" if we get a quick response from you and our high rankings in Google get immediately restored. An apology would be nice as well.

If you can, we'd appreciate if you pass the following word to our former compatriot Sergei Brin: "Seriozhka, konchai duraka valat' - bylo vremia kogda my toboi gordilis'!" (Sergie, stop making a fool out of yourself, we used to be proud of you!)

Keep the Cube rolling,
Comrade Red Square

The Google toolbar must get search results from somewhere else or they are cached differently.

Yes.

Every action in this world has consequence.

Anarchy is only practicable in a vacuum.

Government bereft of morals becomes tyranny.

Morals are derived from one's beliefs.

Shared beliefs constitute a religion.
(even atheism is a religion)

It is impossible to separate politics from religion, or business and science from either. One who employs a tool, without considering the consequences of their labor, is simply being used as a tool by others.

One who employs a tool, without considering the consequences of their labor, is simply being used as a tool by others.

My premise is grounded on how people chose to use technology. It is premised on considering not only on how persons chose to use technology but also what institutions these people work in.

According to you people used as tools don't have a choice -- they're" slaves", foved to work against their will. That's mighty naive of you newbie. If not naive, then it's intentional and if that's the case you're beyond hope.

Politicians and bureaucrats manipulate followers to support their cause as do religious leaders manipulate followers to support their cause. How people chose to use technology is a personal choice.

People wielding politics and religion often use technology to inflict death and destruction. People creating business values use technology to benefit man and society.

Your other comments are senseless babble wherein you assume a need to set up strawman arguments.

The smallest minority is the lone individual. Protect the life and property of the individual and all minorites and the majority are protected.

One law, a thousand laws nor a million laws can rule the world. It would take at least three laws for persons to peacefully coexist. Though no amount of laws can guarantee peaceful coexistence. Ultimately people must rule themselves to abide by the following three laws.

Law 1

The initiation of force, threat of force, or fraud by any person, group of persons, or government against any individual's self, property or contract is prohibited.

Law 2

Force is justified morally, ethically and legally only when used only for protection from those that violate Law 1.

Law 3

There will be no exceptions for Laws 1 and 2.

CowboyJay: One who employs a tool, and considers not the ends to which it is being employed is an idiot (at best),116

You failed to acknowledge how government and politics uses some technologies toward death and destruction juxtaposition to how business doesn't use technology to benefit man, not death and destruction

CowboyJay:  and toils towards another's goals whether he intends to or not.116

Dr Mengle proclaims, "I was just doing my job." Absolves him of responsibility, right newbie?

I very much accounted for what institution is employing the technology and how each institution deployed the technology. Your "idiot" comment -- the whole sentence -- is a projection.

projection: 6 b: the attribution of one's own ideas, feelings, or attitudes to other people or to objects; especially : the externalization of blame, guilt, or responsibility as a defense against anxiety Definition of projection - Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

I don't think so. I just tried some of the same searches others have and got nothing. Minitru is still trying to block The People's Cube.

Yep, they are clearly attempting to stifle ThePeoplesCube.com. I did a Yahoo! search for thepeoplescube.com and the first hundred references are for ThePeoplesCube.com.

yep. Google Jim Robinson or Free Republic and see what comes up.

That's why I;m in the process of switching to another.

I have clusty installed and am working on more. I just can't figure out how to delete everything with the word "google" in it. When I turn on my comp. I still have the google page in front of me. If you are anyone knows how I can wipe this comp clear of anything that has to do with google, I'd appreciate it.

They got deleted because of spammy stuff and got caught. Matt Cutts pretty much outed them...

Absolutely not. Government and religion are capable of producing either good, or destruction, as are science and business. Please note that church members in our country typically have longer lifespans than non-believers.

Well, there you go. Half of Freeper Nation is going off half-cocked again.

Although it is true the Big Cheeses at Google are a bunch of Bay Area Enviro-Lefties. Or at least were big Kerry supporters. A good friend of mine barrowed a car belonging to the brother of Google's founder. That's right, a Prius with a Kerry for President sticker.

Government and religion are capable of producing either good, or destruction, as are science and business.

A gun or weapon cannot do good or bad. Only persons can use a gun or weapon to do good or bad. If you still don't understand that then you're beyond hope.

People can do good or bad. Historically, politics and religion is where most death and destruction happens by the hands of bad people. Historically, business is where benefits to man are created by the hands of good people, and business does not cause death and destruction least wise not even one percent as much has happened in politics and religion.

"A gun or weapon cannot do good or bad. Only persons can use a gun or weapon to do good or bad. If you still don't understand that then you're beyond hope."

There was never a debate about this point. In your earlier posts, you seemed bound and determined to absolve Google of responsibility regarding their self-censorship in dealing with Red China, and the apparent allegation that they are putting the screws to thepeoplescube.com.

"business does not cause death and destruction least wise not even one percent as much has happened in politics and religion."

It has the potential to cause both when individual, or group, greed runs amok. Politics and religion have a legitimate reason to intercede when it does. Slavery in America was ended by a politician (debate the motivations if you like, but you can't deny the fact).
