The Port Deal and Race was it a factor at all(Of Course Not)
The Emirates Economist | 03/12/06 | bayourant

Did Race play a role in the Port Deal discussions? The very charge is met by the likes of Sean Hannity and others with Righteous Indigination. In fact, to mention it makes you the true problem. Mark Levin in fact called a MAjor General a dirtbag over that charge. The below cartoons may be an issue now in the UAE. They are not cartoons about that ole darn prophet however. THere will be no boycotts over these but remember still they dont help things. The cartoonist just give us what we want sometimes. From MSNBC the following cartoon. There were many others that through the glory of the net are available to all.

If you read the first 50 or so posts...it is almost like a Laurel and Hardy routine..to those of us that knew.

LOL .........yes, and a little like "Who's on First?"............. Abbott and Costello.

The transcript is in post 399. The confusion came, I believe, because Levin accused the general of throwing mudballs (accusing some of the anti-port people of being anti-Arab). I didn't listen, but several posters talked about how Levin spoke very quickly and it would be easy to mentally transform "mudballs" into "dirtbag" when one of the listeners is emotional about the issue.

I think Levin should have been less emotional himself and have tried to clarify what he said early on, and made his identity plain to bayourant. I think bayourant shouldn't have come out with such an accusation without a transcript.

And I am off to listen to Tony Snow, my preferred talk show host. He also posts on FR and disagrees with us sometimes without being unpleasant.

You are a great man. To me a great man is wise, committed to his good cause(s), gets angry at times, and is humorous.

You are a great man!

If you're ever in Pittsburgh, I'd be real happy to take you to a ball game of some sort.

Please be well ...........

"What seems to have happened is that bayourant misunderstood what Levin said, and then when Levin posted as holdonnow, bayourant didn't realize that was who he was talking to."

What seems to have happened is that is precisely what bayourant wants us to think. But I have read previous exchanges between holdonnow (Mark) and bayourant and if bayourant didn't know it was Mark himself, then he is indeed a "dummie", or doesn't both to read entire threads.

I'll wager in most of those threads where bayourant stalked Mark, other FReepers outright addressed "holdonnow" as "Mark"..

Bayourant's style is to demonize people who don't agree with him, as "racists", on the ports deal and Illegal Immigration threads.

It was nauseous and ugly. He needed to be stopped.

Well, that's your opinion. I haven't been on too many of the port threads recently, so I don't know.

I have had my oown disagreements on FR with Mr. Levin, and I did know who he was, but perhapas other people don't pay as close attention as you and I do.

There was SOME element of racism in this by a few people, and the left definitely exploited that aspect of it. I think saying it had no part of the reaction is simply being unrealistic. I am not accusing you of such, but some of those newspaper cartoons definitely were, and of course, most of the papers are left-leaning.

I still think that, while there may have been some thoughtful concern over this transtaction, there was an element of "Arabs, no way."

It was much more likely an element of "Muslims, no way." Islam is not a race.

I assume bayourant is the same person as bayourod? I remember the latter lying about the effectiveness of fences on some border control threads.

I realize the "left" exploits our weaknesses. But that is the nature of the beast.

The "ports deal" is confusing to me. I couldn't even begin to debate it with any confidence , so I lurk and read the comments and exchanges.

And with all due respect, MM..I still conclude that bayourant had to have known he was speaking with Mark Levin, because in reality he honestly is not a dummie..far from it.

He just plays the race card when he is losing..IMHO :)

Sloth, it has been suggested that the two are one in the same. I can't say for sure. But I don't think they are. Maybe someone else knows the facts.

---Tell that to the Menonites. The fact that Arab culture is increasingly accepting Western influence is a very strong indicator of a shift in values. Why do you think the Taliban and the Mullahs of Iran prohibit all forms of Western influence?---

It's quite possible that Islamic fundamentalism is going supernova now in response to the domination of Western culture. Their antics are more for internal consumption than to defeat the West externally. W's political backfire in Iraq and Afghanistan is a major peril to the Islamists.

And remember the cartoons of Condi Rice. If they had been of Maxine Waters, the left would have been up in arms.

You know, we really need to make more of an issue of these cartoons. I am sick of he left making out that the Republicans are racist, while they tamp down minorities and publish stuff that looks like it's straight out of the Jim Crow era.

was that bayourod reincarnated?

Suspected as much a few weeks back. Signup date was right around the time of 'rod's banning. Only difference is the new incarnation played the race card on Arab/Muslim threads rather than Mexican/illegal immigration threads.

The left appeals on ignorant emotion and now they got an uber spokesperson on the "right"(weiner/savage) and hannity and levin went along for the ride.

Are you sure you're not thinking of bayourod (or something like that)? There was someone with a similar name that was really odious.

One need only look at many of the posts in this forum and many letters to the editor to know that race, indeed, was a factor in this controversy. I don't think it was for Hannity, but it clearly was for many.

bayourant stalked Mark Levin?!? I just went through pages and pages of holdonnow's posts back to the beginning of August and I only found one exchange between him and bayourant in a Mark Levin thread that didn't seem be rude or threatening

I can't look back at bayourant's posts, but if bayourant was stalking him he must have been doing a bad job of it. It didn't seem like he was doing much to bother holdonnow because he sure wasn't answering anything from him in all those months.

You’re right. Read Jim Rob’s comments on that thread. He told her by FReep mail that she was talking to Mark and to knock off her libelous smears. She ignored Jim Rob and he bounced her.

(see post #631 copied below)

To: CharlesWayneCT
It's no secret that holdonnow is Mark Levin. But just in case the guy from the Bayou country didn't know this, I informed him via FReepmail that it was true. Also advised him to retract and apologize post haste. Instead of heeding my advice to back off, he continued the slander campaign. Thus he now swims with the fishes.
