Large Tornado Has Hit The Capitol Of Illinois

A large tornado has moved through Illinois and has just hit the City of Springfield. Spotters reported a large tornado moved through the city. Damage is being reported. Emergency responders are being called in from surrounding areas.

NWS reports that this was a large wedge tornado.

I'm no expert on that. Just guessing I would think it would depend on the temperature of the water. Cooler..would slow it down..I think.

NEW tornado warning for SPRINGFIELD ILLINOIS

I played tennis in 49 degrees at 11:30am.

We got off the court at 1:30 and it went all the way up to 50.4 degrees.

Lots of dark clouds between you and I seemed to head for the San Bernardino mountains where I am sure they added to the snow.

We had a couple of drizzles today, but that was it.

These folks in Illinois have a serious deal happening with their weather.
As one Freeper said, there are many in motor homes and that isn't good.

I have family in Illinois and Wisconsin...so yeah, I've been watching this one.

We have a safe spot in our house in the basement with solid walls around it and steel I beam support over our heads.

We also have a in ground concrete cistern that will be turned into a tornado shelter next spring as we are getting hooked up to city water by this coming fall and the cistern can be converted to a shelter after that.

Right now we are not under any warnings. It is coming my way and should be here in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Tomorrow morning is going to shock a lot of people. Terrible damage across Missouri and Illinois. One of the worst outbreaks in recent memory.
