A large tornado has moved through Illinois and has just hit the City of Springfield. Spotters reported a large tornado moved through the city. Damage is being reported. Emergency responders are being called in from surrounding areas.
NWS reports that this was a large wedge tornado.
Is this the same tornado that hit Springfield?
Nope, different one. Lots of rotation happening over northern IL
Yeah, good ol' I-44. The storms just love to roll along that way. I hope these dissipate before they come my way. You stay safe tonight.
Benton, AR, just received a tornado warning.
KC had high wind damage but doesn't look to be a tornado.
Now they are saying the lightening strikes are causing grassfires in AR.
Please stay in a safe place tonight because these super cells are heading to the NE from OK/AR/MO.
Watching Dave Murray also here in Affton.
Yep, there's the lightening!!!! I'm getting scared.
Yes....this is a very strong cell...next city in it's path is Mahomat, Il....
I don't think I'll be sleeping tonight...this is supposed to go on all night...
Norman, OK, is now out of the watch area -- everything is quite a bit to the east of us. Maybe that is why they located the National Storms Center here -- knock on wood most of the major storms go around us. We could use the rain but I can do without hook echos on the radar.
Odd weather -- snow and super cells right near each other as the dry line and colder air moves east.
Sorry, I thought you meant Clinton, IA. They had a twister up there too!
I grew up in the midwest. This brings back some scary memories.
What did Dave Murray say? Does he still expect bad weather here tonight?
No Way! I've seen you around here. Good to meet another Illinoian. I'm in Port Byron. Where are you?

Sorry.....that's Clinton Illinois....
Looks like the Weather Channel finally woke up and figured it out. This is not looking good at all!!!
I can understand that -- there are a lot of storms back behind the one that just went through your area. They are talking about I-70 being an area that could receive some of the worst storms as they move across. It looked like a fairly wide area.
I am praying for all of you out there in twister land.
