Globaism is a multifaceted and highly complex phenomenon that goes beyond economy, trade or foreign policy.

Globalism. Like Father like Son.

Globalism is okay, as long as America is running it.

Actually we have been, for about 60 years.

President Bush stood up to the globalist tyranny of Kyoto and the international criminal court. President Bush said, "We don't need anyone's permission to defend ourselves." Isolation from world markets is foolish, as is giving our nation's sovereignty. The President's actions have shown he understands the balance.

Where the heck are Cheney and Rove?

Don't disturb them, they're busy supervising the closing of our southern border to illegals.

Isolationism = America Only

It depends. Do you mean the "old America" or the "new America"?

We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture.

Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende.

For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America.

As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico.

George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000.

You can read the speech here.

Here is an excerpt of a good critique of that speech:

In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. that does it - I'm outta here.

Either this post has been invaded by DUers or those who can think independently, without bashing themselves in the face with their knees, are busy elsewhere at the time.

With friends like many who are posting here tonight, "we don't need no enemies"

Who is the idiot giving W advice. This will definitely split the party. The UN is very corrupt and is a hate America organization. It's only purpose is to weaken our great country. If the Republicans think this will get me to vote for them in November, then they have another thing coming. What an idiot! I just cannot believe this is true.

Very well said! What do these Isolationist-types expect us to do? Cut ourselves off from the rest of the human race? Despite a recurring myth, THIS COUNTRY HAS NEVER BEEN ISOLATIONIST and has been globally involved since the earliest days of our Republic!

>>>And President Bush has done an outstanding job of standing for American sovereignty. We don't have to surrender to UN one-world socialists in order to compete in the world's markets. In fact, that would be stupid.

But we did.
