Being an early-to-bed type, I taped SNL overnight and was playing it this morning when Good Morning America's Sunday show came on. Watching co-host Kate Snow's performance, I was tempted to double-check to make sure I hadn't inadvertently hit the VCR button in the midst of a parody of vacuous blonde MSMer.
The screen capture here is revealing. When it comes to posing prettingly, Snow's a peppy pro. But her questioning revealed the same, tired liberal bias we've come to expect from the broadcast networks' news operations.
For starters, consider Snow's choice of sources. She began by citing the NY Times, and had as her 'expert' guest John Dickerson from the left-leaning online magazine Slate.
Her opening shot: "Are the Republican candidates down there distancing themselves from President Bush?"
When Dickerson observed that the Republicans are "worried that the president's approval ratings are really going to hurt the party and do permanent damage," Snow summarized things for viewers: "Right, drag them down." Thanks for explaining.
Turning to the results of the straw poll, won by Bill Frist, Snow asked this incisive question: "Is this a good sign for Frist?" No, Kate, winning a poll is normally considered an irremediable disaster.
When Dickerson mentioned that John McCain finished last, Snow was ready with this finely-honed inquiry: "What's up with that?"
Dickerson explained that straw polls are sometimes affected by the participation of a home-state senator, Snow again had to put her own inimitable stamp on things:
"So they're sometimes not exactly indicative of the true support of the country?"
Er, right, Kate.
GMA/NewsBusters ping to Today show list.
LOL. She does sound like an SNL parody.
Please tell me she's not in any way related to My Man Tony.
Don't think so. Checking her bio, I was surprised and disappointed to find she graduated from my alma mater, Cornell.
I believe she also called him the "true front-runner." The accompanying graphic said he was a "Senator, Vietnam War Veteran, Former POW." Who knew?
Let's ask the man himself, Tony, any relation to Kate Snow?
John Kerry served in Vietnam ;-)
Let it Snow, let it Snow, let it Snow.....in the lane the Snow is....
posing prettingly, Snow's a peppy pro.
posing prettingly, Snow's a pleppy plo.
posing plettingly, Snow's a preppy pro.
LOLOL!!!
Yeesh! She's got man hands!
Governsleast - bringing better liberal lampooning through alliteration.
Treasury secretary's daughter??...hmmm?
Here's Kate's bio. If she's related to prominent Republicans Tony or John, she's keeping it carefully under wraps ;-)

Actually, when I need a news fix weekend mornings..it's gasp...MSNBC...Alex Witt is HOT!!!
You attended Cornell and you're surprised she's a liberal 'journalist'.
If you were lucky, you caught Kerry on C-Span last night...Nashua Dem. fundraiser. He spent most of his speech reminding everyone that he was One of Them, a boy of the Nashua, NH sod, as it were. Mentioned having served in Vietnam, also something about an incident last year that insulted him. (At least that's what I thought, though could be wrong. I didn't hear the entire speech.) He didn't look orange for a change, and there was no sign of the missus. Made passing reference to the Bush administration -- all bad, we have to take back power, blah, blah, blah.
Said he had a PLAN and then gave bulleted points. The usual drivel, take back the tax cuts for the rich, affordable health care for all, reduce reckless spending, get out of Iraq as soon as it's secure. It was a small venue, and he was cementing ties with the locals. All he needed was his barn coat. Can't recall exact words, but he made one hilarious reference to those (evil republicans), who chase money all their lives instead of integrity. I kept thinking, wow, he isn't even on the dem. A list. They don't return his phone calls! Yet there he was. And I heard on C-Span earlier that AlGore is appearing somewhere today. Could be that same dem meeting. Looks like the dems have figured out that Hill's unelectable and they're all coming out of the woodwork!
