Ya know.. I was SHOCKED to find out that LYNCHING blacks in the south was legal until the late 1960's.....
I couldn't believe it!
I cannot wrap my head around how ignorent people are to the FACTS of slavery and discrimination... you would think with all the BLACK HISTORY month (February) awareness etc.. people would know the truth....
If the Dem and Repub roles were flipped.. the kids would be able to site verse for verse all the eeeeeeeevils of the pubbies...
as for the use of your weapons.. I often say to folks that when the political crapt hist the fan- the way the media keeps driving it...I will running to the mountains with those RIGHT WING NUT JOBS for shelter! LOL!
I trust you're being sarcastic, but in case you're not, this isn't true.
Lynching was illegal in the South since before the Civil War. Anybody who tries to point to some bizarre law and say that it "legalized lynching" is lying to you.
Did you know that it is still illegal to drive a "motorized vehicle" in Boston without stopping every 3/4 mile and setting off 2 green rockets and 1 red to warn others on the road?
My grandfather (and namesake) was sheriff of Neshoba County, Mississippi, back during the depression. He "had no truck with the Klan." He served only one term. But from that history I've drawn a lot of lessons about "what is" versus "what is taught."
"Lynching" has always been illegal, just not a federal offense.
Victims were mostly (as you note) negro, but not always.
