I hadn't heard of The Gridiron Club, so I did a search, and found out it's a club for DC journalists, and admittance is by invitation only.

Not that I would want to go in there anyway. The snobbery, arrogance, and elitism would be too much to handle for this fly-over country plebe.

Very True. Watched President's friday press conference?

Very lively. Reporters were respectful. Bush was humerous, friendly, spoke from the heart without notes. Lots of laughter from the media, which is rare with WH press corps. They even applauded at the end.

Well... yeah!  But I think, having "won" the ports issue, that he's on a campaign to try to mend at least some fences and I'm bettting he'll be largely defending the White House.  Of course, he'll do it by congratulating the President on how wise he is to have surrendered.

Thats not a link to a press conference. It was a speech he gave to the National Newspaper Association. They applauded because he was a guest giving a speech.
