Customs always has the final say in my country. They will alert the relevant department in my case the DTI which states what goods can be exported and imported including what countries are acceptable to buy and sell certain items to and from. You may be able to sell the same goods to one country but not to another.
The example I have is that my goods were in a container going to China. I kept getting excuses why my shipment had not sailed. Finally I was told that customs were not happy with someone else's shipment in the same container.
The next I knew was that the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) had seized the container. The problem and I never did find out what happened was that someone was sending protective clothing to China. This was suspicious as China makes most of the protective clothing we use so why buy from us. Customs/DTI thought it might be special nuclear wear and were unhappy that it might find its way to Iran from China.

Is THAT what happened? Seriously? I have already seen the show, and I didn't trust my eyes since I was typing simultaneously.

... if the item in question is not dangerous BY ITSELF, what are the limits? Legal limits are pretty well defined by export restriction, import restriction, and authorities of the people making the request and enforcinig the request.
The "66 switches" story has many facts in the public domain - and may or may not reflect badly on the UAE (although my initial impression is to think it does not reflect badly on the UEA, and CERTAINLY not on DPW - DPW didn't handle the shipment).

After that, TiVo is the most important appliance in my home. I would give up my X-Box'es before I gave up TiVo.Just a quck question about TiVo. It must be the real deal. I have Direct TV, HD TV (Samsung DLP), and love both. I also have a panasonic DVD recorder with 120GB hard drive. It will record, but only in digital, one channel at a time, etc.
Question is can I record to my DVD from the TiVo? Anyone? ......thanks, now back to the "real" show.

I can't take Fox's silly morning shows anymore. The weekend is the worst. I actually was watching CNN but then they go political.
I'll tell you if CNN could stick to their strength, breaking news, Pentagon and international reporting, I'd switch to them. They always have to go political and that makes me go back to silly Fox.
Actually, CNN's Katrina reporting was excellent the first few days and then they discovered the perfect storm...Katrina and an anti-Bush agenda.

Yes, the foundation is related to their disabled son. Judy's PBS (not NPR) program is a weekly one and about (don't laugh) teen's habits.

You can, but only with a lot of effort and 'extra' stuff. You need a video capture card in your computer that will work with the "Record to VCR' function. Then, you need a fast computer and a lot of disk space for the files. Then you can burn those to DVD.

C-Span mentioned that AlGore is speaking somewhere today, so he's heard Hill's poll numbers are dismal. They'll all come out of the woodwork once the wicked witch is definitely disposed of. Should be hilarious.

What country would want to do business with France or Germany?...
Business in the Middle East is about strong, long-term relationships. If are trading partners begin to doubt our word'--and don't deliver, they will look elsewhere. The Middle East will always look for security and trust in relationships. The impact of the DPW fiasco wasn't the business deal loss, it was the loss of trust that was carefully crafted over many years.
