Selective coverage by biased media

Where's the reporting on Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction program?

When President Bush ordered the invasion of Iraq, the gleeful liberal press reported daily on our lack of finding Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction.

However, two former Iraqi military leaders and tapes of Saddam Hussein and his cronies have recently painted a different story. Alas, other than one TV station, I have found no coverage of either the tapes nor these commanders' accounts. Is this yet another example of liberal bias in the media?

In tapes going back to 1995 -- four years after some liberals claim Hussein gave up his WMD program -- Hussein and his son-in-law were heard to boast that they fooled the U.N. inspectors. In a tape recorded in 2000, Saddam Hussein is heard talking about Iraqi scientists' efforts to build a nuclear device.

Further, Georges Sada, the No. 2 general in the Iraqi Air Force under Saddam Hussein, recently published a book, Saddam's Secrets. Not surprisingly, the liberal media conveniently overlooked this book. In his book, Sada states that prior to our invasion, Saddam Hussein smuggled biological and chemical weapons into Syria, using civilian airliners. Sada's account is corroborated by Ali Ibrahim al-Tikrit, the former Southern Regional Commander under Saddam Hussein.

One would think that if Vice President Dick Cheney's hunting accident deserved more than one week of commentary in the media,

The count is about 2 million Saddam documents, and at least 300 hrs of Saddam tapes.

This really exposes the media as they try to hide information that proves all the "Bush Lied" crap from the left was bogus.

It would pain them to no end to have to admit this.

My guess is that they are trying to figure a way of discrediting the new info or (more likely) coming up with some really creative "spin" to save face.

It will be interesting to see how imaginative they will get with this story.

I'd take the article with a grain of salt... Saddam's ex-generals would be trying to sell a story they think someone would want to buy... we were already snookered by "Curveball" and Chalabi.

If there were some independent collaborating sources, I'm sure that Fox News would want to get that out, even if the rest of MSM wouldn't.

Though finding the infamous WMDs would be big headlines...and the MSM are first and foremost big business.. they wouldn't want to be left out. I would take a wait and see attitude on this...

it doesn't help when the press tries to interpret history:

Saddam feared own army as US invaded:

Mar 11, 2006 — NEW YORK (Reuters) - Citing a classified U.S. military report as well other documents and interviews, the Times also said that top Iraqi commanders were shocked when Saddam told them three months before the war that he had no weapons of mass destruction.

Sorry, but I couldn't disagree with you more. The MSM has taken sides in this, and their vested interest is to keep this quiet.

This would surely help Bush's poll numbers, and they've spent three years trying to bring them down...

There seems to be a debate in the Bush Administration to get all the Saddam tapes and documents out into the public domain so they can be expediently translated. The President wants the documents out in the open, but people at the State Department,, in particularly Negroponte (as reported by Fox), wants to go very slowly as not to embarrass our "allies", i.e. Russia, France, Germany....

I wouldn't have put Fox in that category.. I'll wait until at least they weigh in on this..

Obviously President Bush and his "handlers" don't care that a large percentage of Americans think that he's a "liar" who "misled" us into an unnecessary war with Iraq. Apparently they have no vested interest in getting the truth out. Why should anyone here worry about it?

Not only that, but did you catch one of the AssPress's headlines today? "Four years of war bring little hope of drawdown", or something like that? If I recall, didn't we go into Iraq in March of 2003? Now those in Rio Linda might get it wrong, but when I subtract 2003 from 2006, I get three, not four.

Nope, no bias there.

One would think that if Vice President Dick Cheney's hunting accident deserved more than one week of commentary in the media, that these noteworthy news stories would at least be mentioned once on the front page of our media.

If it doesn't fit the template that "Bush lied" then they will not print.
