Star Spangled Banner
Click for our National Anthem!
(remove your caps please!)

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'T is the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Hi folks.

I have a request but I'm not sure whom to ask. I really wanna hear "Goin' Up the Country" from (I think) Country Joe & the Fish.

It should be on the Woodstock soundtrack.

For that matter, I'd like to hear anything from the Woodstock soundtrack...even Sha Na Na!

Thanks in advance. ;O)

I posted the this on another thread a while ago. It was recently suggested that I post it here for better exposure. I hope it's OK.

"Minnesota recently started selling Support Our Troops license plates. They're beautiful with an eagle head on a flag background. More important, $30.00 goes to the troops and their families. I convinced a car dealer friend of mine that it would be a great promotion, and show his concern for the troops and the community, to provide Support Our Troops plates with each new car. He jumped on the idea and has radio advertising with this promotion. As his dealerships sells about 4000 new cars a year, thats $120,000.00 for the troops. I'm now working on a rival dealership to do the same thing-they wouldn't want to be accused of not being as patriotic as the other dealer.
Anyhow, I think it would be great if FReepers in Minnesota, or any of the other states, I think there's at least eight now that have Support Our Troops plates, would try this with a dealer they might know. It's a natural and our Troops deserve it."

Do you think there's a way to get other FReepers interested or involved? It could be alot of money for our troops and their families.

Thanks,

Prokopton

I never really noticed that before...our National Anthem is three questions and a single statement of fact.

Gotta be some significance there.
