So this is the real crux of this deal. An American company got beat out of the sell by P&O by DP World and because Eller couldn't win in the court of law, they simply lobbyied Warner who said he would look into it. That wasn't enough so he went to Schumer who made hay.

The bottom line is this was a business deal UNDERCUT by a competitor of DP World. This was purely a lobbyist play by Eller. If, in the end they get this deal, there should be a serious examination of the money trail from Eller to Schumer, Clinton, et al.

Thanks. Sold out by our own side. This will turn out to be one of the most successful Political propaganda ploys in history. Democrats not only do they get the money from the competitor, they made huge political capital with the Unions plus they nuked their "Weak on National Security" PR problem.

The really brilliant aspect is they got the "Conservative pundits" and talk radio hosts to do their PR dirty work for them. And as frosting they now make their taking over at least the US Senate not only possible but probable. Way to destroy yourselves "Republicans". Way to fall hook, line and sinker for your political foes PR ploys.

How about the money trail from the Treasury secretary and the Maritime manager, that leads directly to their own pockets if the deal had gone through? Neither of these men is in a neutral position, with regards to making a decision whether or not this deal was good or bad for the US.

A Dubai-owned company will control 23 American ports

See!  It's worse than I thought!  They'll "CONTROL" 23 ports!  From Portland Maine to Beaumont Texas!  They'll have total say over the navigation of our water ways and what comes and goes!  It's clearly implied in this obviously unbiased reporting!

The list includes Port Arthur and Beaumont, Texas, which have handled about 40 percent of the war materiel the Army has shipped to combat theaters in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Why GOOD GOLLY!!!  They'll sure as the sun rises in the east cut off supplies to our brave fighting men and women in Afghanistan and Iraq!  Why, our soldiers will be cut off from our support if this deal goes through!  (It's been killed, granted, but I forgot that as soon as I started hyper-ventilating over this latest headline!)

With this type of iron grip on our ports, it's only a matter of time before they make me put a red crescent on my sea monster floaty when I go to the beach.

IMPEACH BUSH NOW!!!

(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,

 it was probably sarcasm)

Eller did not get "beat out" of the sale. Eller was a partner with P&O and did not want to be forced to be a partner with DP World. I don't believe Eller even bid for P&O.
These facts about Eller have been known foe some time. The facts, that Eller has attested to, concerning the very deep responsibilities that P&O had for security at the ports, has also been known for some time.
For some reason these type of facts have not been found in many postings.

So what??? There's nothing un-American about that!!!

I don't like Schumer or anything he stands for but I don't think he is on the take. He is probably one of the more honest politicians out there.

MAJOR UPDATE: The President is PO'd over the back stabbing he took today [ports deal]. Rove is already sending out the message. Hot tip. Starting tomorrow the "umbilical cord " for 2006 and 2008 GOP incumbents is severed, along with any support from the Administration along the way. Looks like Bush is saying "I'm not running - screw me? No, screw you - you're done".

Never misunderestimate this man - never. Like I said, the Party is a mess - might just have to tear things down to build it back up. Time to clean house.

A Dubai-owned company will control 23 American ports - not six - as a result of the deal approved by a Bush administration panel in January.

Start out with the "BIG LIE" and then build on it. Our elected officials are evil and stupid.

If they are buying 23 ports, it is not from P&O.

Schumer ... is a member of the Senate Banking Committee, which oversees the Treasury Department board which approved this thing.

In other words, Schumer could have screamed about the DPW takeover of P&O awhile back, yet

Schumer chose to make his objections at the last minute

Schumer (and Peter King) must have known that both of the companies bidding on P&O were owned, directly or indirectly, by foreign governments..(The other company is owned by Singapore).
