A Mystery Malady in Chechnya
The official diagnosis for 93 violently ill victims, mostly children, is the stress of chronic fear. Parents and some doctors have doubts.
SHELKOVSKAYA, Russia It started just after the midafternoon recess. As they lined up to return to class, Zareta Chimiyeva saw a girl in front of her collapse and begin convulsing wildly. Only a few minutes later, Zareta was at her desk when she smelled "a bad smell," and started feeling ill.

AUSTRALIA - White powder scare [Multiple incidents]
ANOTHER Friday in Nambour and another white powder scare continued to test the readiness of emergency services.
The same pawnbrokers that received a letter with a suspicious substance inside the previous week, again received mail that forced the shutdown of Price Street for more than two hours on Friday.
And the Friday night before that, a Housing Commission unit block in the Nambour CBD was cordoned off by emergency services after a threatening letter containing a white powder was found in the top of a letterbox.

Vicente Fox Says New Deep-Water Find in Mexico May Eventually Yield 10 Billion Barrels of Oil
VERACRUZ, Mexico (AP) - President Vicente Fox climbed aboard a drilling platform in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday to formally announce a new deep-water oil discovery he said could eventually yield 10 billion barrels of crude oil.
An exploratory well dubbed Noxal 1 was drilled at a depth of 3,070 feet (935 meters) below the water, and is seeking a depth of 13,125 feet (4,000 meters). Perforation of the well, about 60 miles (100 kilometers) from Coatzacoalcos on the coast of Veracruz state, began in December.
NOTE:
Can anyone tell me why Fox can drill in the Gulf, answering to no one but the administration cannot drill in Alaska, etc without wacko environmentalists, liberals screaming?!

Goodbye Dubai
~J. Farah
There is much hand-wringing over the collapse of the Dubai port deal.
There is much gnashing of teeth in Washington.
There is much finger-pointing going on much blame being spread.
President Bush says he's troubled by the political storm that reversed the deal: "I'm concerned about a broader message this issue could send to our friends and allies around the world, particularly in the Middle East."
Then, of course, it stands to reason he should have thought this process through a little better. The political storm is of his own making. It was predictable if only he didn't have a tin political ear, he should have realized the American people might not take this lying down. If only he had a realistic and pragmatic understanding of the kinds of people he is crawling into bed with in the Middle East, he might have made the right decision in the first place.

Hillary's top donor: She's getting away with fraud!
It's been five and a half years since I filed an Federal Elections Commission complaint, and a civil fraud and coercion suit against Hillary Clinton for hiding more than $1.2 million in contributions I made to her 2000 Senate campaign.
On Jan. 26, 2006, the FEC forced her campaign to publicly admit that she took more than three quarters of a million dollars from me and hid it in a series of false FEC reports. The Supreme Court of California upheld my landmark civil fraud suit against a senator and president for conspiracy and fraud, and denied Hillary's motion to dismiss her from the suit.

Bush acknowledges American media revolution
~Kinsolving
Almost daily, there come reports and evidence of an American media revolution.
That long-time liberal combo of The Old Big Three ABC, CBS, and NBC, which were once watched by 90 percent of all homes with television have seen their audiences shrink by more than 50 percent of that one-time dominance.

6,000 terror watch list hits inside U.S.
WASHINGTON, March 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. government's Terrorist Screening Center says there have been about 6,000 "encounters" inside the United States between law enforcement or other officials and people on the center's terrorist watch list since it was set up on Dec. 1, 2003.
Donna Bucella, the center's director, told reporters in Washington Tuesday that "about 6,000 individuals who are known or suspected international terrorists have been encountered within the United States."
She said that about 40-50 percent of the encounters were "repeats" -- i.e. the same person encountered more than once -- but declined to give the total number of individuals involved.

Sudafed Deemed A Threat To Homeland Security
You better not have a runny nose or watery eyes or you might run afoul of the Patriot Act.
According to USA Today, provisions are being added to this legislation, infamous for troubling libertarians from both ends of the political spectrum, that will limit the amount of pseudoephedrine an individual can purchase and require the purchaser to produce a photo ID in order to complete the transaction.

A Backlash in Phoenix over Immigration from Mexico
Phoenix has become the biggest gathering point and distribution hub for people migrating to the United States from Mexico.
But unlike other large cities of the Southwest, Phoenix has little history in assimilating large numbers of Hispanics. The result has been an anti-immigrant backlash.

Google's Al-Qaeda Link
Google's recent decision to censor Chinese users' search results at the behest of the Chi-com government thugs raised the hackles of many. Now comes news that Orkut, a popular internet service owned by Google, is being used by Al-Qaeda sympathizers to rally support for Osama bin Laden and recruit terrorists.
"We know for sure that al-Qaeda is trying to recruit as many as possible from the Western societies, not people who look like Arabs," says Rita Katz of the SITE Institute, a group that tracks terrorists' online activities. "This is a good place to be if you want to recruit people like that."
