ARTICLE SNIPPET: "On 31 March 2006 a Spanish court announced its sentence in the case of Ahmed Brahim, a man long accused of involvement with al-Qaida in the role of paymaster and believed to have funded the Hamburg cell of al-Qaida that carried out the attacks of 11 September 2001."
ARTICLE SNIPPET #2: "From the website of El Pais
Prior to announcing the sentence (ten years in prison, if we're reading the document correctly), the court provided a statement of facts (Hechos Probados) that included the following:

Officers didn't know it was a testing meter that, although regulated by the federal government, is a routine tool to measure the density of soil and concrete.
Police have a criticism, though: "He never identified himself as a civil engineer or that he worked for a testing laboratory," Miick said. "We didn't know what we had."
That brought the guns out.

Authors to duel over al-Qaida nukes
Terrorism experts debate scariest question of all at Heritage Foundation
By all accounts, from the president of the United States on down, it is the scariest question facing America today: Does al-Qaida have nuclear weapons, which it plans to use on the American mainland?
Terrorism expert and author Paul Williams, who claims al-Qaida has indeed acquired tactical nuclear weapons, will square off with author Richard Miniter in a debate at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., that will launch a major symposium of terrorism experts.
Williams' new book, "The Dunces of Doomsday," relying on primary and secondary sources, claims Osama bin Laden secured a score or more of portable nukes from Chechen rebels and other sources in the wake of the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Swan tests confirm deadly virus
A swan found dead in Scotland has tested positive for the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu.
The Scottish Executive has extended surveillance zones in Scotland to include 175 properties with 3.1 million birds, as well as free-range poultry.
The dead mute swan was found in Cellardyke, Fife, eight days ago. Other birds are being tested.
The H5N1 virus does not currently pose a large-scale threat to humans as it cannot pass easily between people.

IIRC the two brothers who were involved were also Suriname. My hypothesis is that Natalie's disappearance and the numerous disappearances of blond, blue-eyed girls (girl in Orlando recently) is part of a slave smuggling ring. I also recall the girl a few years ago blonde, blue-eyed who was a college student in the mid-west abducted in the mall parking lot where she worked. She was kidnapped and murdered by an "un-documented worker" also known by me as illegal scum-sucking border crossing murdering criminal.

JP, thanks for the pings you've been sending my way. It's been hard for me to get motivated to read all of the sad news. Rarely do I do much drinking, but I'm sitting here depressed and downing beer because the full reality of our situation in America has hit me. We are done. Shamnesty is coming down the pipe, and our Fearless Leader is eager to sign it into law. It's a done deal. Our "representatives" in government have sold us down the river in order to pick up a few more votes. And when our country is handed to the illegals, we will do nothing but whine. I am just a guilty as anyone else. I'm struggling just to keep my head above water; I haven't really done anything that will make a difference. Perhaps it's because I feel that there is nothing I can do...the die has been cast. In the meanwhile, the cult is Islam is licking its chops, ready to take advantage of our internal divisions. It's horrifying to watch the decline of America kick into high gear right in front of your eyes. It's just like 1939 again, and history is repeating itself.
Any way, enough angst from me. I found something profoundly powerful on Little Green Footballs. If you only read one thing today, read this...you won't regret it. This will make your guts churn and your heart ache.

Interior minister Giuseppe Pisanu reportedly revealed the plots at a political rally in Sardinia.
"There was a terrorist (plot) that was to be carried out in our country and the monitoring and prevention action of our forces allowed us to thwart it," he said.

Determined Manhunt Leads to Major Terrorist Catch
American Forces Press Service
BAGHDAD, April 6, 2006 U.S. officials announced today that Iraqi forces captured a terrorist leader in Iraq early last month.
Iraqi forces captured and arrested Iraqi terrorist leader Muhammed Hila Hammad Ubaydi, also known as Abu Ayman, in the Mahmudiyah neighborhood of southern Baghdad March 7. Investigators held notice of this capture until now to wait for the results of DNA testing, which confirmed the identity of the man in custody.
"Ayman's capture was the result of a determined manhunt conducted by Iraqi intelligence professionals and several intelligence agencies within the coalition," U.S. officials said in a release.
Until his capture, Abu Ayman, the aide to Saddam Hussein's chief of staff of intelligence during the former regime, was the leader of the Secret Islamic Army in northern Babil province. Abu Ayman has strong ties to fugitive Jordanian terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, still considered the head of al Qaeda in Iraq, U.S. officials said.
Abu Ayman is the prime suspect in the kidnapping of Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena and in assassination attempts on Iraqi government and security force officials. He also is the prime suspect in the kidnapping and killing of several hostages in Iraq and in committing some of the most lethal improvised-explosive-device attacks on coalition and Iraqi forces and on Iraqi citizens.
"Iraqi and coalition forces consider Abu Ayman's capture significant in their pursuit to lay to rest the terror cells that have caused death and destruction in Iraq," according to the release.
Officials believe Abu Ayman's capture will not only disrupt some of these attacks, and that his capture will undoubtedly save lives, but that he will also provide valuable information leading to the capture of other terrorists he has worked with in the past.
Iraqi and coalition forces captured Abu Ayman's lieutenant, Syrian-born terrorist Abu Qatada, Dec. 27 during a raid on his house, where he was found hiding in a nearby canal. He had been wanted for multiple IED attacks, the assassinations of two Iraqi government council members, and the murders of several truck drivers in order to use their trucks in attacks. In the months following his capture, Abu Qatada has provided valuable information on the Abu Ayman terror network, officials said.
The Iraqi Central Investigating Court in Baghdad issued an arrest warrant for Abu Ayman on Oct. 17, citing his violation of Iraqi Penal Code 194 -- committing terrorist acts.

Coalition Forces Destroy Rocket in Ghazni Province
American Forces Press Service
BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan, April 6, 2006 Coalition forces destroyed a rocket pointed at a forward operating base in Ghazni province today.
Residents advised Afghan National Army soldiers of the rocket, in the province's Ghazni district. The ANA forces informed their coalition counterparts, who dispatched an explosive ordnance disposal team to the scene and destroyed the munition in place.
In a separate incident, also in Ghazni district, a village elder reported the location of a mortar round to Afghan National Police officers who recovered the round and delivered it to coalition forces. An EOD team will destroy it at a later date.
No injuries occurred to Afghan or coalition forces in either incident.
"Recovering and disposing of these weapons increases the safety and security of Afghans," said Lt. Col Paul Fitzpatrick, spokesman for Combined Joint Task Force 76. Continued good deeds "will unite the country of Afghanistan as a nation self-determined, self-secured and self-led," he said.
