Threat Matrix: Daily Terror Threat - Thread Thirty-Five

Posted on 03/09/2006 10:08:04 PM PST by nwctwx

:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Unrest in Pakistan Setback for Terror War
(Full Story)

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- A week of unprecedented urban fighting in the wild tribal belt of North Waziristan has left scores dead and forced thousands to flee their homes, raising the stakes in Pakistan's war on Islamic militancy along the Afghan border.

A jumbled alliance of foreign militants, local tribesmen and Islamic students eager for jihad have stepped up resistance in a region where the army already claims to have wiped out al-Qaida as a viable fighting force.

The unrest, brewing for months, is a setback to the U.S.-led war on terror. Further hampering that effort are deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan over Afghan claims that Taliban leader Mullah Omar is hiding in Pakistan and suicide bombers are training here.

I've gone back through some of the older threads and some of the posts you've made are incredible. Wish there was some way to index them, they're that good.

Appreciate it.

Yes, one problem I have is "so much stuff I can't keep track of all of it." There is a lot of good, albeit old, information buried here & there in some of my older stuff, but danged if I can figure a better way to find it besides memory.

Thanks for putting these in one place, lots of hard work JP!!

I like this one......."Hayworth to Bush: Tell President Fox to butt out"

I hope some in Washington peruse FR from time to time. It is obvious now that the majority of the folks have realized we are being sold a load of cr@p with this 'guest worker' baloney. We have enough people in this country unemployed with many on welfare that can do the work. I don't buy the excuse that they are putting on the farmers that they need the help. Most farmers have the same 'guest workers' come up every year to do the work.

BTW, we wouldn't need so many menial jobs done if we weren't overpopulated by millions who don't belong here. And the argument about the economy is just as lame because if you get rid of the freeloaders who are absolutely doing in the freebie systems and other health/insurance etc., our economy will soar.

Saw a great bumper sticker yesterday. It looked like a Florida hunting license ... only it said "Terrorist hunting license." Awesome.

Hi App - I just stopped by TM to post that link. They chronicled some interesting observations.

I absolutely can not STAND the disgusting posts I've seen coming out of freepers about Jill Carroll.

Posts wishing her dead, hung, run over by a tractor...etc.

I should have known better than to venture away from the TM and WT threads.

Huge Drug Bust Has Links to Mexico (NY, PA & NY - 3/31/06)

March 31, 2006 - A huge drug bust in New York and Philadelphia has ties to Mexican drug runners.

Agents seized 5 bags of cash totaling 5 million bucks dollars and more than 460 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of 40 million dollars. The coordinated raids this week capped a complex investigation into a drug pipeline that stretched from Mexico and California, to the East Coast.

Agents in 5 states arrested several people, including an owner of a Center City clothing and music store as a suspected drug king pin.

The drugs and money were transported in such items as stereos, fish tanks, and even in grave-markers with the image of the Virgin Mary on them.

Formal charges are being filed Friday against the alleged drug ring members.

I saw what you saw, V. It's one thing to post an opinion, another thing to start calling for a lynching party before all the facts are in (or after, for that matter). There's some kind of high level of discord running around these days. I haven't been feeling right. I've been getting into more arguments (which I rarely, if ever, do), and I just feel more tension in the air.

For what it's worth.

Nah, in fact, I just got slammed for "bad taste" for a comment I made on another thread, and rather than ignoring the comment, or making a joke the way I usually do, I came back hard and got fairly argumentative. I cut it off when I realized it was distracting from the thread and accomplishing nothing, though.

Security Screening Equipment Fails in Nashville Airport Causing Long Lines and Delays

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Mar 31, 2006 (AP)— A software glitch knocked out the computerized X-ray machines at Nashville International Airport for five hours Friday, causing long lines and flight delays.

Whether the same problem could affect other airports wasn't immediately clear......

I went and looked.
Your initial comment was brilliant.

I'm disillusioned today with FR and keep getting drawn back in to the Jill Carroll debate.

I should probably just turned the computer off and walk away as my ears are hot. LOL

This morning, Fox & Friends interviewed her fellow journalist from the CSM (the one who helped arrange her release) and he said that she was not anti-Bush at all and that she wore the head scarf for cover during the transition on the streets of Bagdad and that she immediately took it off when she reached safety. They kept her locked in a tiny room which she couldn't leave except to go to the bathroom. I think she did what she had to do and said what she had to say to get the heck out of there.
