Man found at O'Hare sent home to Romania
A Romanian man who mysteriously showed up at O'Hare Airport after coming to Chicago for a marriage that never happened was sent home Tuesday, immigration officials said.
Marcel Macovei, 26, has been detained at the McHenry County jail since the first week of March, when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement became aware that he had apparently been living at O'Hare months after overstaying his visa. The jail has a contract with the immigration department to house illegal immigrants.

Bush rules out amnesty for undocumented workers
{Guestworker is a guise}
President George W. Bush said he was opposed to amnesty or automatic citizenship for the some 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States.
Amid an intense debate over the issue among US lawmakers, Bush on Tuesday ruled out amnesty for illegal immigrants but said he favored a "guest worker" program that would provide legal status for workers for a limited time period.

Workers Riot at Site of Dubai Skyscraper
Construction on a skyscraper expected to be the world's tallest was interrupted when Asian workers upset over low wages and poor treatment smashed cars and offices in a riot that an official said Wednesday caused nearly $1 million in damage.
The stoppage triggered a sympathy strike at Dubai International Airport, with thousands of laborers building a new terminal also laying down their tools, officials said.
Some 2,500 workers who are building the Burj Dubai tower and surrounding housing developments chased and beat security officers Tuesday night, smashed computers and files in offices, and destroyed about two dozen cars and construction machines, witnesses said.
The workers were angered because buses to their residential camp were delayed after their shifts, witnesses at the site said.

Bird Droppings Prompt Orlando Warning Signs
Signs warning of bird droppings were posted along a stretch in downtown Orlando this week after cars, benches, sidewalks, plants and even people are hit and covered by the white bird waste, according to a Local 6 News report.
The problem began when city workers removed cypress trees on "bird island" at Lake Eola in Orlando.
The trees had to be removed because the bird droppings were polluting the water, according to the report.
Now, the birds have moved into the city and are covering anything and anyone between Lake Eola and Central Avenue with droppings.
"You have to brace yourself for the smell," downtown resident James Taylor said. "It is a really bad stench. It is disgusting, absolutely disgusting."

No Radiation From Japan Nuclear Waste Fire
TOKYO (AP) -- A fire broke out at a nuclear power plant's waste incinerator in western Japan on Wednesday, but officials said no radiation leaked into the atmosphere. Two workers were injured.
It took firefighters wearing protective suits nearly two hours to reach the blaze because of thick smoke, and another two hours to put out the flames at the facility in Oi, about 235 miles west of Tokyo, said Manabu Kobana of Kansai Electric Power Co.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE
Office of the Spokesman
This information is current as of today, Wed Mar 22 2006 12:46:18 GMT-0800.
Italy, Holy See (Vatican City) and San Marino
March 21, 2006
This Public Announcement is issued to alert Americans to ongoing security concerns in Italy . Demonstrations are planned in various parts of the country in anticipation of the upcoming Italian Parliamentary elections April 9 and 10, and municipal elections in May. This Public Announcement will expire on June 19, 2006.
Demonstrations may be large, but even peaceful demonstrations have the potential to escalate into violence. Some of the demonstrations may be announced; others may be spontaneous. On March 11, demonstrations by No Global and anarchist groups in Milan became violent, resulting in broken windows and streets blockages; fifteen police officers were injured and 40-45 individuals were arrested. The Department of State advises U.S. citizens traveling or residing in Italy to avoid areas where crowds are expected to gather, take common sense precautions, and closely follow media reports.
The Department of State reminds Americans of the continuing threat of terrorist attacks, demonstrations and other violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests overseas. Ongoing events in Iraq have resulted in demonstrations and associated violence in several countries. Italy continues to be under heightened public threat by al-Qaida and other Islamic extremists for its continued participation in multinational activities in
Iraq and Afghanistan . U.S. citizens are reminded to maintain vigilance, take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness, and exercise caution in public places or while using public transportation. U.S. citizens are advised to immediately report any unusual or suspicious activity in Italy to the police or the U.S. Embassy in Rome .
