Does this mean that GWB does not get to exercise his FIRST veto of his presidency?

Well stated, and exactly right.

Well said!

Thanks! My initial knee jerk reaction was one of Hell no! about DPW's management of the docks, wharves, terminals and/or container facilities covered under the leases owned by BPO. However, I decided to do my homework and use the brain the good Lord gave me before I went off half-cocked.

Too many people are relying on their feelings and not on facts. I thought better of some of them.

Thanks for your input re your husband's experience regarding the UAE.

I mentioned on an earlier post here, that when Clinton goes against Clinton, there's a problem. Oh yeah, Jimmuh. Can't forget his worthless rearend. You make an interesting point about Rove, but I don't think he has quite the influence that people give him credit for. I smell something rotten in WDC...

Some people on this forum are like the ad for the computer supply or the postal delivery company.

Doomed I say, Doomed, DOOOOOMED, Oh my God, DOOOOOOOOOOMED.

One damn deal is not going to break our back anywhere in this unstable world.

I can guarantee you that the next deal that comes along the Dubai business people will be there with their dollars or dinars.

The people of Dubai are astute business people and I doubt seriously they will do to much in retaliation.

Sure they will scream American racism while they quietly take more money for refueling ships and doing other jobs that pay big bucks.

Dubai may be Muslim but they don't have the same Dark Ages mentality of their neighbors.

Do you remember the brouhaha, re LOTT/FRIST, when FR went nuts and so many people were claiming that Frist WAS some sort of "savior"?

I hope that they are all eating cold crow, now.

Frist hasn't shown leadership since the first day he walked into Congress. Sadly. How much he has hurt the WOT remains to be seen.

You've done yeoman work, looking up the facts and I, for one, applaud you for it!

We're supposed to be the ones to make decisions of FACTS and THOUGHT; not FEELINGS! Sadly, we've now seen that there is very little difference between some supposed "conservatives" and most LIBERALS. This bodes ill, for whatever else is to come down the pike.

Well well well. I hope everyone is happy now!

First they sell off their U.S. assets. THEN they dump our military contract and port of call into the toilet, as Iran rules the Straight of Hormuz with blackmail.

Nice going, you all!

These people didn't get rich by being stupid.

What on earth is Dubai thinking to get its collective shorts in a knot so publicly?

That both major parties in Congress, in addition to most of our media are slamming them and telling them that being from the UAE makes them unworthy to even simply run terminals such as those Saudi or China run - despite their bending over backwards and risking unrest at home for cooperating with us.

"These people didn't get rich by being stupid."

They'd be stupid to be spiteful about it.

Didn't see a sarcasm tag so I'd like to ask ... where would you prefer docking them instead?

Gee, I don't know....where did we dock them for the 60 years that we've been controlling the Strait of Hormuz before the Port of Dubai? Dubai is a well paid convenience, nothing more.

"They'd be stupid to be spiteful about it."

They're not that shallow. What these businessmen are hearing is that they are a bunch of terrorists. They would be a local laughingstock if they didn't do this.

Also, WE are no longer trusted anywhere in the greater Middle East.

"OUR PORTS ARE CONTROLLED BY THE U.S.!"

Sounds like your the one twisting facts and spouting propaganda. I guess it all depends on what the meaning of "Controlled" is. You find one element of security that will still be US run and then you say the US is controlling the whole port. Now that is propaganda.

I'm relieved, but I wonder who they will sell their interest to. The fact that American companies are not the majority in our ports is very sad. It is a sad state of affairs for our country that our own companies do not jump on these strategic ventures.

But, DPW will still have a port terminal in vancouver, BC. All the talk of how DPW world is such a security risk and the congresscritters miss the fact that DPW will still retain possesion of a terminal next to the longest undefended border in the world.

Silly congress...all upset about the Dubai Ports World and no mention of the COMMUNIST CHINESE GOVERNMENT OWNING an entire port in CA and one on the East Coast as well. Just heard on FOX that they are looking at the Port of Tacoma as well.
