LOL! I absolutely love that song. It puts a lump in my throat every time I hear it. Unlike that forced, overly dramatic vocals excuse for a country ballad that Mcgraw and Hill sing, which sucks, imo.
What is funny is that these stars spend years (and millions) building the ONE perfect mansion, yet scoff at the idea that it might take the same amount to rebuild 4 states destroyed by one of the most powerful natural disasters faced by mankind.
I wonder how many of the folks railing against using tax dollars to help the Katrina victims ever had about 500 square miles of their own neighborhood trashed in a way that it would have taken a few hundred nukes to do similar destruction. It's always easy to be morally superior and rational when looking in from the outside.
>>If you remember, when the Chicks made their anti-Bush statement they were getting ready for a tour and it flopped big time.
I should experience such a flop.
"Five months after the country trio saw their songs banned from radio play lists and their CDs smashed by angry fans, the Grammy-winning Texas trio is flush with nearly $60 million in concert grosses, making them the nation's top touring country act."
EOnline, August 2003
I've got three words for those prima donnas: fag and fag hag.
I bet if you got outside the city of New Orleans, the people are probably the same as in Mississippi. The country folk tend to be a different breed.
"To me, there's a lot of politics being played and a lot of people trying to put people in bad positions in order to further their agendas,"
Sounds more to me like criticism of the state and locals, which is as it should be.
She doesn't sing country music anymore anyway. I don't know what it is she sings, but it ain't country. I used to like her music, but I've been turning the channel away from her stuff for about 6 years.
Now there, my friends, is a perfect example of the fantastical, utopian thought processes of liberals and dreamers. Not only does McGraw not understand the system of government in the United States, and the president's actual powers, nor the manner in which complex funding issues are resolved in the individual states, he also exhibits a childish understanding of the nature of problem solving itself, believing, apparantly, that emotional committment solves problems, not resources, planning, and widescale cooperation and determination.
Big Daddy govn't, for McGraw, should be able to step in when people fail to do what they themselves have to do. But that's not life, that's fantasy, and no govn't, as we learned from the Soviets, will ever be able to replace the responsibility of each and every individual faced with a catastrophe to take on the lion's share of repairing his or her own life.
I cant help but wonder how many of the homeless they have taken in. Surely they have the room.
Yep. The communities in West LA and East TX that were wrecked by Rita have been exemplary in their 'bootstraps' attitude. While Nagin and Governor Bunco have been posing for the cameras and passing blame off to anyone they can think of, the residents of Lake Charles and surrounding communities have been getting back to work, cleaning up and doing what they can to put their lives back in order.
Maybe I missed it, but I have yet to see one single homeowner out cleaning up their own property.
You mean the ones sitting in very nice hotel rooms, not trying to find any work, yet b!tching cause the hotel wants them out to accomodate paying customers? I am sure the FEMA rate that is being paid is much less than the hotel charges, even on Hotwire.
LOL
Tim McGraw's campaign contributions
Faith Hill's campaign contributions
FAITH HILL: "No kidding! Look, Tim and I are professional singers and we have been professional singers for many years! We know better and frankly we are smarter than HIM! The whole thing could have been prevented if HE would have asked us before HE did what HE did!"
TIM MCGRAW: "What a dumb idea! And HE has done this before! Remember when HE said to take to thee by sevens, the male and female and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and female? And then HE made it rain for 40 days and 40 nights? What a dumbass!"
FAITH HILL: "For sure, what kind of idiot makes a guy build an ark and then kills everything else by flooding the place? HE should have talked to Tim and I before he did that! Noah was 600 years old! I bet he had a bad back at the time! And then he does this Katrina thing! Which is just as stupid if you ask me! I know! I'm a professional singer!"
TIM MCGRAW: "So, because of this Faith and I have decided that G-D must go. HE needs to be replaced! As we just described HE has been doing this for years. Besides the ark thing and Noah and Katrina take a look at that Tsumani deal! What a mess HE made! HE is just not qualified to be G-D anymore. So Faith and I have decided to replace HIM! Just as soon as we figure out how to. And once we do you will not see any more of these so-called natural disasters! We are professional singers and we are here to make things work right!"
FAITH HILL: "Yea! So starting right now all of you kneel down and start praying to us! And build some churches for us! We demand to be worshipped because we are Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and we are G-D. Or, we will be soon once we figure out how to kick HIM out of Heaven!"
TIM MCGRAW: "Yea!"
Traci Lords..The porn star is a republican? Daaaaaaaaaaamn
love that site
But remember that at that time, they already had their tour booked and sold out prior to their comments about the president. I'm quite confident that this would not be the case today.
Just an FYI, when the Chicks made their comments, their tour was already sold out. A lot of people tried to return their tickets, but were told by Ticketmaster there would be no refunds. This failed to make the news, and the media held up the "sold-out" concerts as "proof" the Dixie Chick's comments resonated with the American population.
As far as I know, they failed to sell out their Vote for Change venues in 2004. Their only new product in the past 3 years was the song "I Hope" done for Katrina relief. However, the song was released only on iTunes, and did not get any airplay. This didn't stop it from being nominated at the Grammies for Best Country Song and Best Group/Duo. What a load of ****.
The true test comes next month when they release their first new studio album since the remarks and their faux quasi-apologetics on Diane Sawyer's show. I have read that they are going for the Southern rock crowd, and that Natalie has made some disparaging remarks about country music fans in general. We'll see if they do well on tour, though I suspect they may skip a few midwest cities. I do predict that Viacom-owned CMT will pull out all the stops and do a month-long sycophantic worship of the Chicks to correspond with the CD's release. (Would you believe they are playing Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi now on CMT?)
By the way, when the Chicks made their comments and the backlash began, Faith Hill was one of the bigger country stars defending them, though not too vociferously.
you missed it
