Why would I spend 800 bucks for a "gadget" when I can get a full function PC for less?..........

Bill Gates' vision of an ultramobile (Origami) PC seemed like a winner: a device with all-day battery life, yet small enough to fit in a pocket and much cheaper than a laptop. Besides....it prints out unique reports:

Linux on it?
To: sure_fine
of course, carrying a 2 pounder in your back pocket may get unwanted results too

Nottes via akihabaranews.

I'd love to see this PC miniaturized into a tablet PC

ah, go back to /. ya geek :-)
Seriously, this is the whole point:
"This is definitely our first step in looking at the area of ultra mobile PCs,"
It may be Microsoft.
It may be crap.
But it's only the first step.
I'm salivating thinking of the future.

That's hilarious! Here it is 2006, and I don't even have a conning station on my home system! Come to think of it, I haven't gotten my jetpack yet either.

Bill Gates has a plan
For a very small PC:
It will cost too much
