China hits back at US criticism [Barf Alert]

China has hit back at US criticism of its human rights record by releasing its own document of alleged US abuses.

Washington said in its annual rights report that China was one of the world's "most systematic" offenders.

In return Beijing urged the US to "look squarely" at its own problems, such as a high murder rate and jail population.

While China often rejects US criticism of its rights record, this exchange is especially sensitive due to President Hu Jintao's visit to the US next month.

The report issued by China's cabinet, the State Council, on Thursday listed "a multitude of cases to show the serious violations of human rights both in and outside the US," according to state news agency Xinhua.

"As in previous years, the US State Department pointed the finger at human rights situations in more than 190 countries and regions, but kept silent on the violations of human rights in the United States," the report said.

It described alleged abuses including secret surveillance, police abuse, racial discrimination and wrongful convictions.

"The United States has always boasted itself as the model of democracy, and hawked its mode of democracy to the rest of the world, but in fact, American 'democracy' is always one for the wealthy and a 'game for the rich'," it added.

Increased censorship

In its own report, issued on Wednesday, Washington was equally scathing about Beijing's human rights record, saying it "remained poor".

I know. Thank god those ones made it to Taiwan. I feel very sorry for the ones that still suffer under the chicom government. The pro-chicom trolls either work for a corperation with interests in china or are professional propagandists.

You pinged me earlier. I don't give a rats ass about their history. It's the here and now that matters. For example. http://63.247.134.60/~pobbs/archives/china/index.html

well, with all due respect, to formulate policy without understanding history (we still study these in school fo a reason, right?) seems to invite bad policy. whether it's dealing with China or Canada.

The history of communist china isn't all that long. It won't be that much longer, I hope.

"DO NOT FEED THE CHICOM TROLL!! "

You're right of course but I haven't played with govt stooges of anti american countries since I was in the military.

And yes China is anti American. They do what is best for themselves. Forget about Tibet though, they have destroyed the culture, stolen the natural resources and sterilized the women. That culture won't exist in a couple generations at most.

Read your history. Taiwan was only breifly part of mainland china and even then it was largely ignored. The ROC inhabits the island because they were driven off the mainland by the real rebels, the chicoms.

No, it's you who need to read or reread your history. Do you know who Koxinga is? He was a Ming dynasty loyalist who took over Taiwan from the Dutch (in a 9 month war) and used the island as a counter to the Qing dynasty. His Ming-in-Exile state was ultimately defeated and his territory was then incorporated into the Qing. Taiwan has been part of Qing China from 1660s to 1898, and then from 1945 to the present as ROC. The Japanese surrendered the island of Taiwan to the Republic of China after WWII.

98% of Taiwanese are from the Mainland within the last 400 years. So called "native Taiwanese" speak the same dialect as people in southern Fujian province directly across, and came to Taiwan during the Qing Dynasty, which had control of Taiwan since the 1660s until 1898. Unless the Taiwanese unanimously call independence themselves, you really don't have much right calling independence on their behalf. And I am speaking this as a Taiwanese.

even then it was largely ignored.

That doesn't quite explain how by 1890s, the original Taiwanese (Austronesian) aborigines were either dead or the few tribes who survived chased into the mountains and nearly everyone in Taiwan then spoke a Fujian dialect. Just to remind you, Fujian is the province across Taiwan. Let's be real, even if Taiwan wants to declare independence, it's not going to use the aboriginal claim.

Afger I posted my message, the troll returned to post its outright lies and falsehoods. Additionally, the ChiCom refuses to answer a single question honestly. I was forced to jump into the hread and reply because some of these lies are blatant and shameless.

You're absolutely right about the dangers of the ChiComs. Their alliance with hte Islamists is also a forerunner of the alliances we'll see in the near future. We'll have democracies on one side (led by the US) and the Sino-Islamist alliance (led by China) on the other. I am not sure where the Putinists/Russians figure in this equation though. At present, I put them in the Sino-Islamist camp (despite Russia's problems with terrorism in Chechenya).

Unfortunately, you're very right about the genocide in Tibet. Everything that you mention is collaborated by the Tibetian refugees (who exist in larger numbers outside Tibet rather than inside their own country). The Han ChiComs are doing the same thing in Uighiristan and Inner Mongolia as well.

BTW, did you see the various lies posted by the ChiCom propagansist on this thread? Amazing, isn't it? These brainwashed robots of the PRC don't know a thing about free thought. They are expert liars though.

Look who has returned to post more "ChiCom history lessons" ;)

Seriously, the ChiComs don't answer a single question honestly and divert each issue with made-up history. The fraudulent claims about Tibet on this thread are excellent examples of ChiCom political "education."

Of course, as I pointed out earlier, the Taiwanese claim/professed support of the KMT is usually a standard talking point used by all ChiComs to build credibility. They know, as well as we do, that anything they say as ChiCom apologists will be laughed off by most rational people who are even slightly familiar with the disgusting ChiCom record.

The spin is the most popular dance among ChiCom propagandists; it was developed after the ChiCom "revolution" and was perfected during the aptly-named Great Leap Forward /sarc
