PREPARED TESTIMONY OF DR. MICHAEL A. LEDEEN, RESIDENT SCHOLAR IN THE FREEDOM CHAIR AT THE AMERICAN ENTERPRISE INSTITUTE, TO THE HOUSE COMMITTEE ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
I am delighted and honored by your invitation to discuss American policy toward Iran, but before I do that, I hope I will be permitted a few personal words in appreciation of the welcome contribution that you, Chairman Hyde, have made to our country and to the tenor of life in Washington.
Our national political debate has long been very fractious, and this moment is especially nasty. But you are a rare man, Mr. Chairman. You have never forgotten that our elected representatives are sworn to advance the national interest, whatever the transient demands of party or faction. You have done that with rare grace and humor, through some terrible personal tragedies and despite some particularly insensitive slanders. After nearly thirty years in Washington, I cherish many memories of your ability to defuse a tense situation with an urbane chuckle, all the while reminding your colleagues of their responsibilities to the American people. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I hope that your years ahead are full of satisfaction and fulfillment.
Future historians will be baffled at the intensity and tenacity with which successive American administrations have refused to deal seriously with the obvious and explicit threat from the Islamic Republic of Iran. From the first hours of the fanatical regime of the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1979, Iran declared war on us in language it seems impossible to misunderstand. We are the great Satan, while they are the representatives of the one true faith, sworn to combat satanic influence on earth. Hassan Abassi, the chief strategic adviser to President Ahmadi-Nezhad, recently put it this way: ÒAmerica means enemy, and enemy means Satan.Ó

If the American public ever knew the classified information on Iran and Syria, they'd be angry that the information has been withheld.
So Ledeen thinks Iran should have a revolution, rather than us use military means to eliminate the threat. I have yet to see him lay out a plan to make such a revolution happen. I would prefer it myself, but how? Ledeen is certainly short on details.
And that would be?
I think that you are wrong. The Republicans would be angry, the Dems would cheer. And the independants don't care.

Here's to a new day and soon, when they will be baffled no more.
It is inevitable that Western Civilization deal with those who see death and martyrdom as a reward in and of itself.
It won't be pretty but it will be necessary for free nations to finally stand tall and stop the march to madness and destruction.
Can't say.
I think for many years he has made many suggestions to foment revolution. But State and CIA have not implemented them. I believe it was Richard Armitage who famously referred to Iran as a democracy.
The problem is we have run out of time for that method. Now the slow insidous must give way to the fast and furious.
Kinda wished you came to that realization before you spouted off.
Your little tag line tells us all we want to know about you Cowboy.
Huh? What does my tag line have to do with cowboys?
I thought you were told to wait in the car!
Dude, you're weird.
