A proper hanging kills instantly, IIRC.
Back to using a new rope.

This may be the dumbest legal argument I've ever heard.

I'd like to know one thing:
Is there ANYTHING the ACLU doesn't like, that doesn't fall under the First Amendment, somehow?????

I think the ACLU is right. Bring back the chair, so everybody knows for damn sure the bastard is suffering.

The American Civil Liberties Union claimed in a federal lawsuit Wednesday that California's lethal injection protocol violates the First Amendment rights of execution witnesses by not allowing them to see if the inmate is experiencing pain before death. Is this for real? scrappleface would be proud of this one. I'm speechless.

I'll bet the aclu wouldn't have any objections if it were used for euthanasia, though.

Well, the ACLU probably believes the U.S. Constitution violates the Constitution. Screw 'em.

Since when does the First Amendment say we have the right to know everything the government knows?
I have the First Amendment right to secret CIA files, too!!

A firing squad circumvents those problems nicely.

Leave it to the ACLU to invent the most baseless legal theories that only leaves one laughing.

By golly, you took the words right out of my mouth. A proper hanging has plenty of legal precedent in America. It stood the test of time. It's instructive to people who might be thinking about murdering someone. Why monkey around with injections?

We don't need to illustrate absurdity. The ACLU is doing it quite well all on its own..../insulting vulgarity inserted here

Well, I guess the only way to handle this is to mike him up and have Oprah interview him.
"Any last words?"
"Ouch! That stung"
"Anything else?"
"JFK's killer was ...ugh" (beeeeeeeep)

I don't believe that is the motive of the ACLU. They want to make all executions illegal, this is just one step for them.
