Couple of questions I wonder if the Weapons of Mass Demagoguery will answer?

If the Port Deal is such a major important crises, WHY did the Congresscritter Know Nothings in the Congress put their Anti-Capitalism "Port" legislation INSIDE an Appropriation bill? If this is so important why are the Congress Critters so gutless as to NOT put it up as stand alone legislation?

Do any of the Port fools even realize that the Federal Govt has NOTHING to do with who buys P&O? Blocking this deal merely means someone ELSE will have to buy P&O 9 Terminals. Did you even bother to stop and thing about that? The Democrat Senate Leaderhsip has now put forward legislation to create a Department of Port Security. Wonder if the Know Nothing talking heads like Hannity, Savage, Malkin and the clowns at NRO etc feel guilty now for pushing the Democrats Propaganda line on the Ports? Well done fools.

Way to actively help your political enemies Election Year PR. Nice job "Real Conservatives". After spending the last couple of years squalling daily about Federal Spending, way to demagogue yourselves into political position where you will now be responsible for expanding the reach, cost and scope of the Federal Govt! Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Actions have consequences you idiots.

Just mark my words on this. If Congress blocks the Dubai Ports from managing the ports terminals then the UAE government will ask our military to leave their naval and air bases there, as well as kicked out our CIA and FBI agents from their country. It will be a great strategic loss of an ally and military bases in the midst of the war on terror. Also do not be surprised if Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain will have similar reaction to us in consolidation with their brethren in the UAE. Even to make it worse the Arab dominant OPEC may cut its production by 1 million barrel and the oil prices will soar. Already two other non Arab countries (Iran and Venezuela) were asking to cut production.

The knee jerks in Congress just do not know what they are getting us into.

House panel votes to block ports deal

Wed Mar 8, 2006 5:50 PM

(Reuters) - A House of Representatives committee on Wednesday voted to block the Bush administration's plan for allowing a Dubai company to manage six U.S. ports.

By a vote of 62-2, the House Appropriations Committee approved the amendment to stop the state-owned United Arab Emirates company Dubai Ports World from managing terminals at the American ports.

The legislation, which could be voted on by the full House next week, was attached to an emergency spending bill providing more funds for the war in Iraq and rebuilding southern states hit last year by hurricanes.

All of you people who think this deal should go through are not thinking clearly. Dubai will NOT keep us out of their ports if we nix this deal. However, if it goes through the republicans will lose many seats this fall in the elections, plus if they sanction the presidents "gold card" scheme we will lose even more. We are headed for a disaster and all you guys can worry about is who is right or wrong about the dubai deal.

Politically it is a diaster and will forever be one!

The funny thing is that the "true conservatives" bought the schumer line that this was a "secret" deal, hook, line, and sinker.

When it was not, DPWorld bought P&O and all was above board, but scream the Arabs are taking over the ports(when they are not) and it was stampede to beleive schumer's lies.

Complete nonsense.

They don’t allow our military to use their ports because they’re our bestest buddies or because they want to unload container ships in New Jersey.

They let our military use their ports because our very presence there helps provide some level of stability in an very unstable part of the world. This stability, in turn, allows the Royal family to make oceans of money in their banking and tourism industries.

They’ll bitch a little. That’s it.

It's a Democrat conspiracy. I smell Shillary behind this. It was their trick to make it seem that Republicans and Conservative media first questioned the deal. This is nothing but another attempt to make it seem like Bush is soft on borders and security and outsourcing. Capitalism! Capitalism! And I'm not over-reacting becuase Bush's veto overreaction signals he might be weak on this, weak on security, and what else does the public trust him on? All that stuff about gleefully sending jobs to India, was not, I repeat NOT pandering to the cheap labor lobbies and a signal of Bush's Texas-style elistism but a brilliant strategic plan to get India to say they might open their markets if we sell them nuke plants first! It was brilliant! Anti-DPW people are racists, just like the border zealots. RAAAAAAAACCCCCIIIIIIISSSSTTTTSSSS!!!
