Really! If we ever have any complaints about Qatar, will you urge that country to kick us out too? :)
You must have a very LIBERAL definitely of urge then. and yes, it's all YOU have, is to accuse ME of being a bot, because I can see strategically and you can't seem to see past your own nose.

They're going to increase the # of members in each house who will get EVERY detail of our NSA program .. with increased oversight. Oh great .. more members of Congress to leak national security information to the papers

An actual bill approved by the House and Senate will need to reach the President's desk before either of those possibilities come into play.Correct. This is still in the posturing mode, with messages being conveyed between the legislative and executive. It is an election year. I still have not come down firmly against the deal. A 45 day evaluation is OK, since it will not scotch the whole deal. I am fine with the posturing.
To: Ooh-Ah
I bet the initial tip off that started the whole mess came from the lobbying firm paid by whatever American interest wanted to snag the contract from UAE.
Just an observation.

Selling ports to a country who recognized the Taliban is also stupid. No one of the bush bots likes to accept the fact that the UAE would control the manifests for the ships, which the Coast Guard would receive.
But I guess only the Treasury Department knows what is right for the country.

I just cannot believe Republicans put Bush in that position. Why did the CFIUS put us all in this position?

Didn't someone mention that companies from other Arab countries also handle port operations in several major cities, too? Including, if I'm remembering correctly, one from Saudi Arabia? (I'm sure someone will promptly correct me if I'm wrong...)
National Shipping Co. of Saudi Arabia...with a terminal in Chucky Schmucky's neighborhood (yet not a peep from him)

I hope you're right, because otherwise there's going to be hell to pay.

Amazing, isn't it, that there are 64 members of that committee?
All getting their scraps of pork.
Sign of a sick body politic.

Losing bases, allies, and intel are some of the likely outcomes, and it doesn't take someone from the Psychic Network to figure that out. There will be NO retaliation from the UAE.

Selling ports to a country who recognized the Taliban is also stupid. The UAE has been very helpful since 9/11, ask Gen. Tommy Franks and not some know nothing grandstanding politicians.

Oh, I can see strategically too, Mike. That's why I've been confident from the beginning that you're going to get your ass kicked on this one. :)

Why are you so obsessed with pleasing the UAE? Do you understand that they were only one of three nations to support the Taliban? But because George Bush supports it, it is ok.
Bill Clinton sold weapon systems to China, would it be racist to oppose that action?
I'm sick of being called a racist because I don't want our ports controlled by foreign governments, especially those that support scum like the Taliban.

Oil/gas is a world wide network, not just a complex in the Gulf. You would be better off arguing about interdependence. Have you forgotten the late unpleasantness in Kuwait? We and they have this in common, that neither of us wants cerrtain individuals to have control of the Gulf region.

The bottom line is the Prez looks out for the folks and clearly sees the big picture whereas the rest look out for themselves only... That's how it is the question is how the heck do we change it?

Indeed, hence the total news blackout of any comments from union workers over the deal.

The idea that the United States of America needs Dubai more than Dubai needs the United States of America is hilariously funny.
