House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement this morning on the death of Dana Reeve:
"Today I offer my heartfelt condolences to Dana Reeve's family and friends. Her death, coming so soon after the death of her husband Christopher, is a source of deep sadness for so many -- both to those of us who knew her, and those who admired her work and her values.
"Dana Reeve used the great personal challenge of her husband's paralysis to work so that other families would not have to endure the same pain. By bringing hope to the sick and disabled with the miraculous potential of stem cell research, she has helped to continue the mending and renewing of the world that is possible through science.
"I hope it is a comfort to the Reeve family that so many people share their loss and are praying for them at this sad time."

Yesterday, after Howard Dean issued a politcal statement that was a bit more vauge, I joked that Ron Reagan would be deliver a eulogy at Mrs. Reeve's impending four hour funeral. Now, I'm wondering if that wasn't far off the mark. What the hell is wrong with these people?

I wonder if Mrs. Reeve will get a big star-studded funeral? I don't recall that her husband got one.

In a related story, John Edwards commented that people like Dana Reeve would walk again if stem cell research were allowed to proceed....

Democrats don't need no stinkin' Bandwagons to jump on.
Just drive a Hearse by them and watch them jump to their feet in applause.

Karl Rove gave Dana Reeve lung cancer. Bush's theocratic ban on all scientific research denied her a cure. Pass it on.

"miraculous potential"
is that for real? how about "scientific potential". Miraculous, well hey that borders on prayer and the libs shan't have any of that now.

Can we harvest Pelosi for research?
I hear there's miraculous potential for science if we can experiment with her parts!

By bringing hope to the sick and disabled with the miraculous potential of stem cell research Dana was an influential person, but she wasn't a scientist. So she had nothing to do with "bringing hope" with "stem cell research".
She simply argued for making others pay for research to get her husband out of a wheelchair.
Also, she didn't really die "so soon after her husband". I guess it's how you look at it. A day, a month, maybe even a year would count. Anything over a year isn't really "so soon", although at 44 any death is WAY TOO SOON.

THese libs completely lack humanity. Everything that happens is simply another opportunity to advance their political agenda. Kind of like the communists using their Olympics medals to showcase their glorious state.

Johnny Edwards was waiting to lay on hands to heal Ms. Reeve.

Can't these people show a little decency and wait at least 48 hours before politicizing something like this? Sheez.

Look on the bright side: Thanks to them, Jimmy Carter's passing will be that much MORE entertaining.

The funny thing is, that the one thing that researchers can consistently do with embryonic stem cells is produce cancerous growths. All of the successes to date are with adult stem cells... either umbilical cells of autologous transplants of marrow cells.
Here is a good link for keeping up with stem cell research... and misrepresentations:
