Drudge ^

VIENNA, Austria (AP) -- Iran threatened the United States with "harm and pain" on Wednesday for its role in hauling Tehran before the U.N. Security Council over its suspect nuclear program.

If we bomb Iran it is reasonable to expect the intent will be to cripple their infrastructure. We did not do that in Iraq nor was it our intent, despite accusations from the Left that we carpet bombed it indiscriminately.

Yes, the POTUS's lame duck status may well remove political concerns from his deliberations.

>>>Is it a bluff?<<<

The inability of the Mullahs and Ahmadinejad to anticipate what might happen if the US unleashes its warplanes is stunning.

Don't they remember what we did just next door to Saddam - twice.

Oh, I forgot, they think our bombing will bring the "Mahdi" to save Islam!

At the risk of repeating my Chavez recommendation....

Unfortunately, every time we rattle our sabre at this loon he is able to capitalize and instill a sense of nationalism with the Iranian people. It's better just to treat him as the crazy man that he is and let him fall under his own stupidity.

We are wasting time. We need to go in ASAP.

No way, that would not give them time to hide the program like Saddam and turn even more world opinion against us. (sarcasm)

This is the proverbial "bringing a knife to a gunfight" scenerio. Iran's posturing is going to get the nickname "nightlight of the Middle East"

I may have missed some evidence, or hint that this is already occurring. Can you point to an article or source that gives some indication of this?

You don't know 90% of what our SOF & OGAs are doing - Nor should you - There is much going on around the globe and in particular with regard to Iran.

We are 4 years into aggressively fighting the GWOT....and still the public isn't aware of the majority of what has taken place....and not privy to 90% of what our SOF have been up to (in both Iraq and Stan).

And there have to be a large number of folks on the other side who are still concerned about the Earthly consequences, and are skeptical of a suspension of the laws of physics.

Even if they believed the suspension of natural laws would take place, what would become of their faith as soon as a demonstration of the "laws of physics" is performed? If not melted outright, I would guess a lot of jaws would drop, some literally!

If we are to be successful in war we must remember that it requires we have the capacity for ruthlessness and the polical/military strategy to do it right and quickly.

The Israelis are saying they'll handle the problem if the IAEA & UN don't do anything.

The "Mahdi" can nuke Jerusalem in the morning, and move into a home there in the afternoon.

Actually, a well placed air-burst, and you probably could. Might be some problems days later without rad-poison, but hey! Got's me a new house.

Under the heading of responses we'd like to see:

U.S. Promises Iran Nonextistence -- "If Iran attacks the United States, the lost civilization of Atlantis will be easier to locate than any remnant of the Iranian nation," said a U.S. diplomat.

Swift, decisive and total victory, and defeat, do tend to settle things.

"Dajjal"? Isn't al-Dajjal the Muslim version of the Antichrist?

I don't know. I'm don't know much about this stuff. Maybe the US is supposed to be the "dajjal."

"Iran has been AT WAR with the US since 1978"

Exactly right. Now it's time for us to finish what Iran started.

Well do you think it will be before or after they nuke us?

how can anyone counter attack, not knowing whether it actually was Iran?

Iran has spent the last number of months painting a bulls-eye on itself with their leader's propensity for trash-talk. Anything big blows in Iraq or Israel or the US, even with no fingerprints, they are going to get it hard, because they have convinced the world themselves that they are willing and capable. And they are trying to portray themselves as the seat of an Islamic empire, so they get it on those ground as well. The Iranians have been making the case against themselves.
