Best Pictures winners tend to be fairly successful commercially. Apart from this year anyway. The last one that could really be called a flop was The Last Emperor back in 87.

Hi garyhope-
You're 100% correct. My life has not been altered even one iota with regard to whatever movies/actors/actresses got recognition a few nights ago. Their little group masturbation party hasn't changed the way I think or comport my life in the least.
Nobody polled me to see how I've managed to make it through the past few days with all the "blues" that I've apparently been suffering, unbeknowst to me.

Narnia's ticket sales nearly equaled those of the five best picture Oscar nominees combined.ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -I predict they will continue to make their agenda driven movies all the way to the poor house.

This is not like creating a conservative version of the Oscars.. just one that is more representative.. and drags good movies out into the open.. like "Passion of the Christ" and "The Chronicles of Narnia" and gives them a chance to Shine along side of the other favorites like Harry Potter and Spiderman and such. Let the Academy sink into irrelevance with their Art House flicks..
If you look over a list of Best Pictures winners they tend, on the whole, to be on the conservative side with a few exceptions here and there.

Seethed??? Don't take yourself so seriously, Hollyweird.
I patronage the products and people I care for, and ignore those I don't. Your sense of overblown self-importance is showing.

The last one that could really be called a flop was The Last Emperor back in 87. That was another poor year, IIRC. The Last Emporer was up against Empire of the Sun (a little confusion with the names back then for me); "Hope and Glory", a slice-of-life kind of film set in WWII; Kenneth Brannagh's "Henry V", which was comparitively low-budget; and a fifth movie, which I'm forgetting. Oddly enough, I recall that only film of the five that I didn't see was "Empire of the Sun". (Yes, I remember that I saw the fifth film even if I can't actually remember what it is now.) Granted, 2 of them I saw on VHS.

I knew that and to tell the truth , I was shocked by it. Still, Lonesome Dove is his best work. He also wrote "The Last Picture show".

I doubt conservatives 'get the blues' over the antics of the Hollywood left. We know they are nutjobs. If they behaved any differently, it would be a surprise.

The films TLE beat : Broadcast News, Fatal Attraction, Hope and Glory, Moonstruck
Empire of the Sun was better then most of those. So was Full Metal Jacket. Henry V came out in 89.

Geisha are professional entertainers. They provide such services as conversation, music and poetry. They are not expected to, nor will they, sleep with a client.

'What goes around...'
Someday and probably soon another Mel Gibson or maybe Gibson himself is going to produce a movie where the USMC are the good guys and kill tons of mooselims or the scummy life of queers/AIDS etc is shown or, heaven help us, Christian warriors are the good guys and they WIN. How about the true story of the Rosenbergs? Or Alger Hiss? Or Chappaquiddick, now there's a theme for you! Who's got the cajones? The first guy to do it tastefully and artfully follows Gibson to the bank!
Those liberal pigs in Hollywood will sell their mothers for money! They'll start producing pictures America wants to see , like it or not!
Dr. Zhivago, Zulu and Red Dawn!

I advise YOU to change your ways if you want to make it on FR.

So if you forget the conservative message in Chronicles of Narnia, does anyone really believe it should be nominated for best picture? In other years I would see your point, but this year Narnia, and Harry Potter stood out as being at least watchable. Just go to boxofficemojo and look at the movies for 2005 just to get the picture on how lousy they were.
There was not a single movie on the list for best picture this year that I have the slightest interest in even renting, not being the type that will sit through Hollywood preaching liberal garbage at me.
To: TASMANIANRED
Exactly. Hollywood is so left that who cares what they think or say? The Right and Red States should be putting out their world-views every day . Swamp the media; go on Talk Radio, TV, the Net as they do with blogs. That this event would surprise anyone when the Pimp song wins, is beyond me. They, the Lefties in Wood are simply out of touch elitists.
