Yeah, I guess he put on a little weight. Ruth did it with beer and whiskey.
If someone wants to alter their physicality to play a better game of sports, let them. It bothers me only in that others play by one set of rules, others cheat. Allow steroid use, blood doping, whatever someone wants within the law of states and the feds.
I assume the four are Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, and Palmeiro?
Well in Bond's case I guess we can eliminate thinking really hard ...
..I had the 1960 Topps cards of Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford--those were the days...

So no one here gained any weight in the same time frame?
I'm in no position to say "Yes, he juiced." or "No, he didn't." I'll admit the changes in his physical appearance are damning, but you can't automatically make the leap of faith. Bonds was brought up and was being tailored as a lead-off man. He was slim and fast and stole a lot of bases. Good eye for the ball. As he got older, he lost a step (as we all do), recognized this, and built himself into a power hitter to lengthen his career.
You are correct sir!!!
If you REALLY believe that, then you must still think O.J. is hot on the trail of the real killers too!
Is that you Barry??
Seriously. Pull up his career stats and you'll see the progression and transition from a basestealer to a power hitter. He topped 40 HR's three times before 1997 (before the alleged steroid abuse), and hit 37 in 112 games in 1994. The power has consistently developed over his career.
And how many others on that home run list (non-juicers, that is) started out as base stealers and transitioned to home run hitters? Darn, Maury Wills should have made that transition....lol
Actually, didn't Rafael Palmeiro also test positive for steroids?
I had a Roger Maris baseball glove
During the same time spans, the total number of home runs in the National League increase from 9,788 to 14,013, an increase of 43.2%!!!
Obviously, the WHOLE LEAGUE IS JUICING! LET'S BAN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE!!!!
Or maybe get some better pitching, or not be so quick to expand the league and dilute pitching, or not let the marquee pitchers get older as marquee hitters are reaching their primes.....
"Bonds testified that he had received and used clear and cream substances from his personal strength trainer, Greg Anderson, during the 2003 baseball season but was told they were the nutritional supplement flaxseed oil and a rubbing balm for arthritis, according to a transcript of his testimony reviewed by The Chronicle." -- San Francisco Chronicle, 12/3/04
