Seriously. Pull up his career stats and you'll see the progression and transition from a basestealer to a power hitter. He topped 40 HR's three times before 1997 (before the alleged steroid abuse), and hit 37 in 112 games in 1994. The power has consistently developed over his career.
And how many others on that home run list (non-juicers, that is) started out as base stealers and transitioned to home run hitters? Darn, Maury Wills should have made that transition....lol
That's not the way it happens. You don't "develop" power in your mid thirties without pharmaceutical help, you begin to lose eyesight and reflexes. The body begins to wear down from years of playing ball.
Your head doesn't expand eight hat sizes either...
