I'll never forget it either, though I was rooting for the other team.
May he rest in peace and may God look after his family in this time of need.

Some folks are a bit weak on the concept of private property. This one probably urinates on other people's carpets, too.
His zotting is no loss to us, none at all.

It amazes me that some people think that sports figures don't matter. Lou Gehrig; Babe Ruth; Jackie Robinson; Hank Aaron. There are so many figures from sports, especially baseball, who have become Heroes that transcend the game and loom over all society. RIP Kirby--too bad there was no happy ending for you. Your immortality is assured.

I enjoyed going around a corner in a grocery late one cold winter night and crashing carts with Kirby. He had just signed something like a $5 million deal and there he was at Byerlys late at night buying diapers. Any self-respecting Minnesota millionaire with the winter off would have been at the mansion in a warm place. Thanks for everything, Kirby, especially game six.

I wish he had taken better care of himself in retirement.Nah. As long as he purposely indulged (legally) in all the things he wanted to do after retirement, then I say he went out on top.

It's sad he died so young, but he sure was homely. You're speaking of the troll on this thread, right?

RIP. Our prayers and condolences to the family. The game has lost an absolute gentleman. They are few and far between these days.

I've never been a bigger fan of a ball player. This guy was my hero thoughout my baseball playing days. What a guy - I'll never forget him stopping to talk to a group of us kids while he was shagging flies at the 'Dome.
And now, entering Heaven, the center fielder, number 34...Kiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrby Puckett!
Rest in peace, 34.

Unfortunately personal problems in recent years diminished the fabulous player and personality that he was. Shut up.
Agree! He was a great one.

The story I remember most about Kirby-(this is approximate because it's been a long time, I may not get all the details right) Kirby had a great offer to leave Minnesota, I don't remember from who. It was a home game and Kirby hit a single and drove in a run or something. They were playing the Royals and George Brett, playing in his final season, was playing first. The crowd roared for Kirby because the hit was important. George said to Kirby 'a million dollars cant buy that kind of love Kirby'. And Kirby stayed, he could have made a lot more money playing for someone else his last couple seasons.
