Rasmussen: Atkinson Fares Best Against Any Democrat
Central Point - Oregon State Senator and candidate for Governor Jason Atkinson would fare best against any Democrat of the three Republicans battling for the nomination. In a February 23rd Rasmussen Reports Poll, Atkinson trailed Governor Kulongoski by only 12% versus Saxton at 13% and Mannix at 15%. If Kulongoski's strongest opponent, former State Treasurer Jim Hill wins the primary, Atkinson trails by only 6% compared to Mannix at 12% and Saxton at 13%.
According to the pollster, Rasmussen Reports was the nation's most accurate polling firm during the Presidential election between Bush and Kerry. The results show clearly that Senator Atkinson has the best shot of defeating Kulongoski or Hill in November. “Voters are clearly ready for new leadership in the Governor's office,” said Atkinson campaign manager Matt Evans. “The tremendous momentum of this campaign is now undeniable. We look forward to implementing our plan to reach out to voters who are concerned about security issues, the safety of their children, and returning some honor and credibility to public office. Jason Atkinson is clearly the only man for that job.”

Saxton visited our manufacturing facility a few days ago.
To be honest I've never heard of Atkinson but I did hear Lars Larson get on Saxton's case because of immigration.
I'll have to do some research on Atkinson; whoever the Pub nomineee is they have to take or neutralize Multimnomah and Lane counties.
Atkinson is the real deal. Saxton is a RINO.

try telling that to Lars, I listened everything Saxton supported to lars via email and he personally attacked me. The thing is Lars is becoming more and more irrelevant for conservatives in this state. I cant wait to see Atkinson win the nomination and see Lars try to jump on his support wagon and see Atkinson call him out.
Saxton is the biggest RINO, well Mannix just cant win state races. I like Mannix as a person but as a politician... well he acts like a politician.
yep and are RINO senator Gordon Smith hates Perry and is trying to take down Jason governor race. I know one thing Gordon will never get my vote again, not just because of this but what hes done in the Senate as well.

I looked at the website and found my answer. I've known Perry for 30 years, and it looks as if Jason is cut from the same cloth. Great people.
yep, Jason is a very good guy and it seems more and more likely Mannix may conceed after his showing at Dorchestor and endorse Atkinson. After Dorchestor Mannix has no shot winning the endorsement, and if he jumped out of the race and enorsed Atkinson. Atkinson would be are candiate and finally we would have a republican who would be electable and also conservative.
I just pray we dont have to choose between Saxton and Teddy K.

I'm confused. I thought that Atkinson was the pro-illegal Mexican guy which was why he no longer participates in the Republican round table discussions on Lars' show. Also I have seen a lot of Atkinson farm & ranch team signs which tells me he must be pro amnesty (illegal alien). Where am I wrong here?
I don't think you are wrong.. we need to find out a lot more about this man before giving him the conservative nod.
All I know about him, which admittedly is very little, is that he makes no sense. Did you hear him on Lars Larson the other day ago? And on his radio commercial, presumably a well vetted appeal for votes, he makes a pretty bad misquote... He says that "a people who fear their government is anarchy..." well.. no it's not, it's tyranny. Off the cuff I could see the mistake, but in a recorded ad?

Any candidate that does not want to control illegal immigration is not really concerned about "security issues, the safety of their children", "safety and security and protection of our children" blah blah blah.

your wrong because you listen to Lars side only. Listen to what Atkinson has said, listen to what Saxton said to the Farm bureau meeting he had. But Lars wont tell you that, Atkinson has been the strongest against illegals, its just that Lars has a personal problem with him, which is fine because since Lars dumped him he went from 3rd to 1st. Yeah Ive seen Atkinson farm and ranch signs and at the same farms seen Saxton signs their as well just go down 1-5 around woodburn area.
Ive done my research... and you look at the most conservative blogs and anti illegal alien blogs who have they endorsed ATKINSON. Maybe some of you forgot Saxton was a democrat right before the 02 governor race, did you guys remember he was the most MODERATE canidate in the 02 race. Now why hes now going conservative... hmm because he cant win being a moderate. Guess what he will do god forbid he wins the primary go moderate. Guess what Atkinson will do... stay the same he hasnt changed one second. You either will like him or you wont, but you get what you see with him. Saxton you may just be getting another Teddy K.
Do you want me to bring up what Saxton has supported that the so called "conservative" Lars wont tell you? Try emailing him direct quotes of what Saxton has said about taxes, schools and Lars will just personally attack you because he knows its true. People are finally seeing through Saxton, thats why his support is going down well Atkinson is going straight up. A paid worker for Saxton quit his campaign at Dorchestor because she felt she wasnt being true to herself because deep down she knew that Atkinson was her guy.
If anything go listen to Atkinson ask him questions look him in the eye, I guarantee after you listen to him you will vote for him. Go talk to Saxton like I did in a small group last April, he comes across as a career politician. Will I vote for Saxton if hes the republican guy, yes but I wont give him .10 cents, or help him campaign.
What Atkinson has that Saxton doesnt is an energized base. People will do anything to help his guy. Saxton will have to try to win the nomination on lawyer money. Atkinson will win it from the regular republicans.
who Atkinson? if so Id like to see the proof. Because christian groups already support him and hes an outspoken pro life canidate (going to pro life rallys). Hes a strong christian I highly doubt it was Atkinson. Probably Pete Sorenson or Vicki Walker.
