I suppose on this thread it goes without saying, but I'll say in anyway...BOYCOTT THE OSCARS tonight.
I want the ratings for this year's program go into the toilet (where most the nominated movies belong). I won't waste my money to see the films, my electricity to watch the Oscars, or my time watching to witness Hollywood's self-adulation fest.

BTW, I noticed as I clicked back and forth from other shows that several speakers made mention that Movies are better on the Big Screen.
And I have to agree! That is why my next purchase is a 12 foot Wide-screen for my new HD projector, no Hollyweird I am not going back to your high priced theaters were a box of M&Ms cost more than 2 gallons of gas.
Crash seems to go nowhere while it actually does go somewhere. It treats the issue of where prejudice ends and humanity begins.

I agree, in that it was a watchable film. But it is Pretentious with a capital Pretense. Not a bad film, interesting and for the most part well acted, but just pretentious. The whole opening monologue with Don Cheadle staring into the camera, narrating the metaphor for us, the stupid audience...man. That made me groan like a cow in a 48 hour labor.
I'm kind of disapointed Brokeback Night, and Good Luck didn't win. I wanted Hollywood to go over the edge, past the point of no return in politicalization. I want Hollywood to destroy itself with its stupidity. I want them to stay out of touch.
Crash winning, that's just tame. Not lame per se, just tame. I wanted controversy, I wanted firebreathing conservatives outraged at the gay cowboy communist sympathizers, I wanted a cataclysmic Apocalyptic war between middle america and socialist America. I wanted an excuse to shoot George Clooney in the face. What do we get? Yawn, Crash.
No worries. That's why ice cream comes in 31 flavors, after all.
I didn't see any of the Paulie Shore movies a few years back and can pretty much say with confidence that they were not "Best Picture" material. I could be wrong though.
