There now looks to be about as much chance of the UAE government-owned Dubai Ports World taking over several ports in the United States as there does of George W. Bush running for a third term. In other words, zero. Zilch Nada. Zip. Forget it. Isn't going to happen.
For the #1 reason why, let's go to the polls. Not some slanted CBS poll...where only Democrats are asked Bush-hating questions that are written in order to solicit a specific answer. No, today we have a Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll. And in that poll, 69% oppose letting the Arab firm take the reigns at the ports in question.
Bush says he'll veto any attempt to stop the deal...looks like he won't have anywhere near enough votes to sustain such a veto. In other words, the ports deal is dead. The only question is whether or not it will take the full 45 days Dubai has offered to review the deal. They have to know their chances of success aren't good. Expect them to announce they're canceling the deal any day now.
And there's one other unhappy statistic for the White House in the same poll: Republicans only have a 5-point edge against the Democrats in the area of protecting the country from terrorism. There goes the signature issue of the GOP.
The elections this fall will be most interesting.

Looks like Neal's website is back up after a little construction. FoxNews/Opinion Dynamics poll say 69% oppose DPW Ports Deal.
Perception is reality in politics and business.

Please. I maybe upset with the port deal and immigration issues but that does not mean that I will ever give my vote to the Democrats on security issues. Never, ever, ever!
To: sully777
Someone needs to tell Neal the FoxNews poll had the same slanted demographics as the CBS poll.

No surprise that Boortz would be pushing the clearly bogus polls. (Every poll recently has oversampled Democrats by 10% or more.) Boortz never misses a chance to bash Bush.

"oversampled Democrats by 10% or more"
If they were confident they wouldn't need to do that. The liberals are desperate. Polls are all they have left.

If this deal goes through in April the MSM will beat it till around mid-May then the campaign season will begin in July with all being near forgotten. At the very best case scenario for the Rats they could gain 6 seats in the House still leaving them in the minority and 2 seats in the Senate and again still in the minority.

Remember before the '04 election, all the MSM-blitz sound bites?
Kerry is surging! Bush is slipping, down by 10 points!
Bush lied about Iraq! Bush lied about military service! Kerry is a war hero! Bush deserted his guard unit! On, and on, and........
The public will have forgotten about all of this, by the time the elections heat up.
This is the day of 15 second sound bites, scandals 24/7, doom & gloom economics, social extremism. The U.S. has become so numbed and apathetic by all of this, it no longer matters what or when the press says anything. The public has grown indifferent.

Lets hope he is right but I think he is overconfident. Since when did politicians care about public opinion. They just get the media to create perceived public opion then the politicans claim they have to go along with this so called public opinion.

No, today we have a Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll. That is the same poll that said Kerry was going to win the Presidency.
If you believe Fox News/Opinion Dynamics polls then it will be up to President Kerry to decide.

"Lets hope he is right but I think he is overconfident."
IMHO the general population's emotional state is still rather raw toward the Arab, Muslim culture. The state side response is a visceral one against it, not necessarily based on fact. This admin. should have seen this and done a little pre-marketing ahead of said deal
Again in IMO, the Globalist agenda is being pushed a little to fast and many American's are becoming increasingly uneasy about it.

I'm betting the public thinks this was a deal the President arranged, not a private business transaction between two foreign countries.
