You are so right, I read through the article waiting for some revelation about the girl's behavior (not that I wanted to, the tone of the article was leading me there), then when I got to the part about the spitting and such, that was it.

I agree what took place was disgusting, not so sure about the jury verdict, however. Basically, 3 drunk people having sex. Afterwards, the girl feels guilty and icky, and says it is rape. Parents should be teaching their kids (girls especially) about the dangers of alcohol in situations like this.

I would think that providing alcohol to a minor and videotaping a sex act with a minor would both be prosecutable offenses regardless of any "consent".

Even which statutory rape laws are ignored and "Romeo & Juliet" exceptions within the law permit adults and minors below the age of consent to have sex, it is still criminal to videotape the act.

It is why the porn industry is required to obtain information on the subject when they shoot and retain it on file. Did they make the claim that they believed she was over 18?

At least when Rob Lowe videotaped a sexual encounter with a minor, he met her in a 21+ nightclub.

They don't mention it, but this was the case where last week the judge almost put the girl in jail for contempt, because she refused to view the videotape in open court and answer questions about it. The whole thing is a travesty, and will undoubtedly send a message to young girls to keep their mouths shet.

I find it disgusting too, but you don't put people in jail for having disgusting sex.

You have to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. They had a tape that showed the girl gave consent.

And sorry,the girl bears some responsibility for the situation. I find it absurd that we hear about how tough women are, they can be fighter pilots, boxers, and POTUS, etc. but somehow they can't be held responsible when they get drunk and have sex.

This is the kind of thing that happens in a civilization where a woman can be acquitted after shooting her husband repeatedly from a sniper perch and killing him. There no longer is "wrong" or "right" in this society. There is only "who has the better story." Anyone who cheered the verdict in that case should keep their mouth shut about this one.

This is porn mentality. Women and men are just sex objects to be "done" and love and respect has absolutely nothing to do with sex. Degrading and humiliating one's sex object is a common theme in Internet porn. It is a real mistake for parents to let teens do Internet porn and to be harassed by the public school sex pistols who talk up sex as if it is a mechanical, soulless activity with no love, respect or commitment.

They were teens. The way the jury saw it, there was reasonable doubt there was rape and it was consensual sex that occurred between the couple. So no crime was committed. The only question is why the D.A's office persisted in light of the obvious.
