Like I said. Chavez is going to do a better job of wrecking Vs economy than the US Air Force ever could.
I think the next election will most likely be the last one.
One man.
One vote.
One time.

You know your country is circling the drain when people are fleeing to Colombia for prosperity and stability. I'd flee to Colombia too - for, uh, other reasons:

Jimmy Carter certified it" In all honesty, it probably was on the up and up.
Wasn't this the election that they had over 500 voting stations with the exact vote count for one or both candidates?
As I remember it, this story was only in the news for about a day then Jimmy certified the election and the MSM promptly lost their curiosity about the obvious fraud.

When the producers leave, the poor can eat dirt.
Mugabe proved it.

On a lighter note, not all is gloom and doom in Venezuela.

Looks like Venezuela may become the Zimbabwe of South America. (Okay, okay, don't take the analogy too far.)

Venezuela and Colombia both have some breathtaking scenery, so to speak.

For all I now it was dirty, I'm just speaking from my experience with Venezuelans. The ones I have met are split almost entirely along economic lines. Upper and middle classes hate him, lower classes love him. Since the per capita GDP is $6,400 (2005 est.), that means there are a whole lot of them that fall in that lower class bracket.

The 3 countries I noticed mentioned in the story were Spain, Columbia and Canada.
To: blam
If Mrs. Garcia's parents fled the Spanish Civil War, they must be very old indeed and moving to another country would be very difficult. As for Columbia, I'd choose it any day over Venezuela. Colombia has a sane government and is making progress against its problems.

Australia, Canada, Spain and Britain...

Now now. I'm sure hoarding gold in your basement has its place in a well-balanced portfolio!:)
