It's good to see that there is still a certain amount of "horse-sense" in Nebraska. It is unfortunate that our RINO Hagel keeps looking at the wrong end of the horse. Hopefully the horse will blow a big load of apples in his lap the next time he stands for election.

Having been born and raised in Nebraska, I know the state is literally crawling with "cheap" labor (illegals) and causing all sorts of trouble. Texas, Arizona, CA, and NM aren't the only states with the problems!
NOW is the time to CRACK down on the border, and set up a LEGAL system for those who wants to work in the US!

This is a very simple proposal which should be non-controversial.
The fact that it IS controversial speaks volumes about the trouble we're in.

Putting up a fence will have little effect and cost the taxpayer jillions. Those who want in will simply fly over it, circumvent it, come in via water or tunnel under a fence. This is more about drugs than anything else - to stop the drug dealers simply make death the penalty; No ifs ands or buts; that is just the way it is (should be) in the United States of America just as it is in other countries - DEATH.
If Senator Nelson really wants to do something he should get really tough; down and dirty tough. His fence building will go on through out the election year make it sound like he is doing something when he ought to be demanding the Death Sentence for all Drug Dealers. Just more political rhetoric

I like this guy Nelson. Is he good about anything else, just wondering since he is a Dem? And I didn't realize Hagel was a RINO.
"I'm not in favor of building walls" is such a wimpout Kumbaya statement it literally makes me sick to the stomach. So I suppose the house he lives in has no walls or doors, just a roof with "enter" signs all over.

rottndog's 10 Simple solutions to the crisis of illegal immigration:
1. Immediately allocate funding for as many border patrol agents as necessary to effectively secure the borders. This would include the use of military forces to interdict Mexican army escorted drug trafficking.
2. Immediately allocate funding for a modern and effective border fence.
3. Cut off all federal funds to any state, county, and/or city that has an expressed (or even unexpressed) sanctuary policy, including police noncooperation policies such as LAPD's special order number 40.
4. Immediately sue in federal court all aforementioned entities to overturn these patently unconstitutional policies (enforce the supremacy clause).
5. Cut off all federal funds to any state, county, and/or city that refuses to verify eligibility requirements for the dispensing of federally funded or subsidized public services.
6. Start prosecuting repeat illegal border crossers and put them in prison. It is a federal felony to recross the border after deportation. Give them a warning after the first offense, but after that, off to jail. Maybe have longer sentences the more times illegals are caught in the country illegally.
7. End the "anchor baby" citizenship loophole.
8. Establish and implement a system of instant electronic checking of residency status for the purpose of employment. They have instant checking for firearms purchasing, why not for employment eligibility verification?
9. Fund random inspections of businesses by ICE officials to verify employment eligibility (legal residency). Include in this a task force to immediately respond to the use of bogus employee social security numbers.
10. Arrest and prosecute employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens. After instant checks are established, there will be no excuses.
Some of these things could be done under current law--in other words, much of the problem would go away if our current laws already on the books were ENFORCED!
And, absolutely NO guest worker/temporary worker/amnesty programs unless and until the the borders are ENFORCED!

I believe that if certain areas had a protective fence it would make those areas livable such as the fence in SoCal that stopped the criminal invasion of Imperial Beach. Proving that fences have a legitimate and practical use, and be damned if the PC flakes and the Mexican chauvinists get in a hissy fit.

Nelson will only push this type of thing until he's reelected. After that, he'll be free to be a Dem partisan again.
Rule of thumb, if he votes for Harry Reid for majority leader, he votes for abortion, activist judges, high taxes, big spending and US bashing in the war. He should not be allowed to get away with it.

Hagel has advocated legislation that would give legal status to undocumented immigrant workers under certain conditions,...
I think Nelson is doing a trojan horse to get the illegals into the US.
. ALL immigration visa reform must be 100% contingent of completing the fences FIRST. Otherwise democrats will want to have a "rush for the boarder" before the fence is complete.

A democrat who gets it and a supposed republican in Hagel ready to sell us out. This November is going to be very interesting.

For those who haven't noticed, the Democrat Party is re-inventing itself as the party of border security. Imagine that. Just in time for the election.

While the cost of the fence might be high, Nelson said, it's modest compared to the cost of dealing with illegal immigration. The cost of the fence is peanuts compared to the many BILLIONS of dollars illegal aliens are costing us. This huge cost doesn't seem to bother our President and his cronies a bit. I guess they can afford it, but we can't.
Any politician who agrees with guestworker/amnesty needs to receive more FAKE PESOS for their campaign warchests.
