Portland, Ore. -- A jury recommended Friday that Oregon's most prolific serial killer be sent back to death row for a third time.
Dayton Leroy Rogers tortured and killed a total of eight women in 1987, binding them with dog collars and coat hangers, stabbing them repeatedly and mutilating them possibly while some were still alive.
The Clackamas County jury was unanimous in its death sentences for six of those murders.
Judge Ronald Thom will decide later whether to accept the recommendation, after hearing from families of the victims.
Two previous juries had sentenced Rogers to death but the Oregon Supreme Court overturned the sentences, in one case ruling that the jury must be given the option of sentencing Rogers to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Under Oregon law, a conviction for aggravated murder requires a separate sentencing trial and jury verdict on whether to impose the death sentence, life without parole, or life with a chance for parole after 30 years.
The jury ignored Rogers' claim that he was a changed man after 18 years in prison.

Is anyone taking bets on whether the Oregon Supreme Court cuts him loose, AGAIN?

Yep...And did you notice his attorney thru in the old "abused as a kid" reason for life instead of death?

How about sending him to his deserved, final fate instead of sitting on the dole, on death row?

He'll never be executed... his lawyers will see to that. I'm surprised any murderer gets executed on the Left Coast.

I'm surprised any killer anywhere gets executed these days.
When these monsters are caught and convicted, they should be hanged- NO appeals, no excuses. Don't give him a chance to "change".
His victims haven't "changed". They're still dead.

Just kill him and be done with it. Changed man, indeed, tell it to St. Peter, the rest of us aren't interested in hearing it.

Well, here in the People's Republic of Oregon, a little thing like three unanimous juries doesn't mean much ...

Aw geeze. Just signed up today. Blah blah blah. Guess those victims bound and stabbed themselves.
Good for Dayton being happy and fine. Perhaps he's then ready to pay for his crimes?

I think you've had three trials worth of opportunities to get the "truth" out. Why have you waited?
You are not a neutral party in this so your emotions are warranted to a point. But he has been convicted three separate times.
Since a jury of his "peers" has spoken not once, not twice, but three times, I side with the jury.

If you guys had any clue what-so-ever about this case, I think that you would be shocked. You see Dayton has NEVER talked about his case to anyone! Anyone except for me, his attorneys and investigaters. We are going to have the truth about this case out in the forseeable future. As for the victims? Well I guess you will find out when we decide to put it on the air. I wouldn't put a wager on your statement because don't like loosing. Dayton is probally more happy today than he has ever been in his entire life. He is just fine. Does that make your blood boil? Well it is a fact............ God Bless you ALL!!!!!Welcome to Free Republic, and thank you for sharing that.

I will not forgive him and I don't believe any mortal should. When executed under our laws, God will judge him.

Take him off death row and put in the general inmate population.
Problem solved.
Just make sure the guards are told to look the other way.
