AP FRIDAY NIGHT CLARIFICATION ON BUSH/KATRINA VIDEO ('OVERTOPPED' NOT 'BREACHED')

Clarification: Katrina-Video story ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON (AP) _ In a March 1 story, The Associated Press reported that federal disaster officials warned President Bush and his homeland security chief before Hurricane Katrina struck that the storm could breach levees in New Orleans, citing confidential video footage of an Aug. 28 briefing among U.S. officials.

The Army Corps of Engineers considers a breach a hole developing in a levee rather than an overrun. The story should have made clear that Bush was warned about floodwaters overrunning the levees, rather than the levees breaking.

The day before the storm hit, Bush was told there were grave concerns that the levees could be overrun. It wasn't until the next morning, as the storm was hitting, that Michael Brown, then head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, said Bush had inquired about reports of breaches. Bush did not participate in that briefing.

AP is more than part of the MSM -- it drives the MSM. Most newspapers get the majority of their non-local news from AP.

90% of all "news" in the Phoenix Arizona Repulsive is stamped AP - swear they don't have any journalists of their own.

Another nail in the coffin of the dinosaur "mainstream" Democrat news media.
This was nothing less than a political hit-and-run by the AP. "I thought I hit a road sign. Sorry."

I'm astounded that AP did not use this opportunity to mention that Bush himself cleared this up while in New Orleans in September in response to a question and ended by saying "thanks for asking and allowing me to clarify that statement" or something similar.

You mean that the liberal emotions first mentality is starting to sneak into our ranks????

It would be nice if conservatives would act such and form up our ranks. The only way we can lose the majority in this country is by slitting our own throats.

The Army Corps of Engineers considers a breach a hole developing in a levee rather than an overrun.

...as does anyone who speaks english. God what morons.

The story should have made clear that Bush was warned about floodwaters overrunning the levees, rather than the levees breaking.

Yeah well, why let clarity ruin a good smear?

Yep. Shakespeare's King Henry V said: Once more INTO the breach" NOT "OVER the breach. Good grief.

AP is doing what "journalists" do these days. Spin facts into a leftwing media mythology, that allows them to bash a sitting President in a time of war. AP is no different from CBS, NBC, ABC et. al. That is the sad part. When you think about it they are not "disgracing" their profession. It is the profession itself that is a disgrace.

Thats like saying Bin Laden is a disgracing the "profession" of terrorism.

Is T. Ebbert [NOLA DHS chief] responsible for delay in large-scale response to levee breach?
Quote from Terry Ebbert, New Orleans' homeland security chief, August 31, 2005 to the AP:

"It's a very slow rise, and it will remain so until we plug that breach. I think we can get [the breach] stabilized in a few hours"

Media Schadenfreude and Media Shenanigans PING (Lying Liars ALERT)

Another hit piece by the mass media with a convenient "correction" when the public is tuned out (Friday night???).

The story should have made clear that Bush was warned about floodwaters overrunning the levees, rather than the levees breaking.

When I went to college, I saw this same sort of thing in the student run newspaper. A smear, with correcting evidence in hand, that would be held until after student elections. I call Bull Zogby.

Bush DOES need to call the presstitutes liars working in the service of the DNC.

History books will ignore their dirty tricks unless they are outed publicly by the administration.

You can bet that every textbook will mention the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy during the Clinton years even if they don't examine how legitimate or fabricated that "conspiracy theory" was.

They have succeeded in what they've tried to do... and been doing since 2000... the apology is just going through the motions.

SeeBS proved it could 'forge' the news... be caught at it... and get away with it. In fact, if you make the circuit and say they haven't been PROVED forged... you can still hold onto your job.

Only hanging will stop these swine.

Still to this day I never hear anyone discuss why no action was taken on Sunday Night when I heard on the news that the levees had been compromised. Once I heard the FNL statement I knew it was all over for NO. Yet not another word was spoken about it until Tuesday. Perhaps some claimed it on Monday but no one was worried for it seemed unconfirmed at that time. Now I see Blanco telling FEMA days after I heard of it that they were not breached. Why is this not in the news?

All this tells me is that Bush was on top of the situation, being advised of it, before it even happend.

All in all I wopuld say his staff was on the ball.

When the levee DID breach where was nagin with the busses to evacuate people? hundreds of busses a mile away fromthe stadium sat there.

And the National Guard is UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE GOVERNOR!!!! not the president.
