GLASSBORO, N.J. (March 3, 2006) -- Philadelphia Eagles players Donovan McNabb and Jeremiah Trotter, charged with parking their cars in handicapped spots, failed to show for a hearing. Glassboro Municipal Judge Charles J. Springman Jr. cited each player for failing to appear at a March 2 hearing. A courts administrator told The Philadelphia Inquirer that if the athletes, or their attorneys, failed to attend rescheduled hearings, contempt charges could result. The men are among an estimated 300 people in the New Jersey community who have received police complaints filed by Maryann Cottrell, a crusader against those who park in spots of spots reserved for the physically handicapped. The 53-year-old Cottrell, who cares for an adult child with autism, last fall photographed the athletes' vehicles parked in handicapped spots outside the Landmark Americana sports bar. McNabb's doctor wrote to the municipal court, saying his client was hospitalized on the date of the alleged infraction. The bar's owner also wrote, saying nearby construction forced Trotter to use the handicapped spots.
McNabb, Trotter no-shows in parking court
NFL.com wire reports
T.O.'s fault.
No; Rush Limbaugh's fault!!!
Actually the handicapped (from their big egos), perp walk would be funny!
Lies!!! All lies!!!
Also, there's a good possibility that McNabb needed the handicapped spot if he was recovering from hernia surgery. I had that last year, and normally you'd have to wake up laying behind a dumpster to simulate the feeling you have for about a week. The catheter is the worst. I fully believe they use barbed wire and steel wool on the tip of that thing.
?!?!?! That's the same day he had his surgery.
Super Bowl bound!!!
When in the Super Bowl? Or the previous three Championship games?
I'm curious Ms. Cottrell, what is this exactly? An adult who hasn't matured? or a kid who is super sophisticated?
As far as I'm concerned, nobody has a legal or moral obligation to deal with their traffic and parking citations as long as this b!tch is the attorney general of the state.
Unless it's just an elaborate setup so he could get away with parking in that spot.... Yeah, that's it, he never had surgery at all!
LOL, yeah, I know her.
I can't stand them.
I think they out to let them park in no parking zones. Then, if they get a ticket, they can prove to a judge that they were handicapped.
We've had a surprisingly large number of posts without having one of these "special treament for the old, handicapped, fat, lazy or on welfare" apologists show up.
Often times when I go to a shopping center, the only empty spaces are the "handicapped" parking slots. There are usually 10-12 dedicated spaces in front of each store. How many crippled people do they think there are in this country?
I took the time to read the whole thread and am shocked that somebody didn't ask this question -- especially you OW. Of course, I figure somebody will steal my thunder before I get finished writing and proofreading.
Why in the HELL does a sports bar need to have handicapped parking spots? And I'll carry it one more step. Why does this heifer care who is parking where at a sports bar? I don't see a person who has autism or that person's caregiver having any reason or need to park in a handicapped spot at a sports bar.
This reeks of a setup. How long did she have to stalk this place or these drivers to be able to catch them parking illegally?
In the interest of of full disclosure, I'm a Cowboys fan.
Then a special "handicapped person's assistant" can come out and do whatever you need done.
That would stop all the abuse and would be something I could live with.
No, he had surgery on the day in question. I didn't think McNabb had surgery on any of those occasions. But you seem to be an expert on the subject, so I'll defer to you.
And those Cards are a great football team - One playoff win since 1947. Good Job.
Easy, now! Im a Redskins fan, not a Cardinals fan. And I was just funnin' you. You know Skins-Philly rivalry and all that..
Believe me, I know. I live in the DC burbs and all my in-laws are skins fans.
Looks to me like the skins take a big step back this year(especially if Brunell can't last a full season). But once 'lil Danny can spend without restriction, it will get very interesting.
Im afraid the Salary Cap loss will turn the NFL into the NBA..
